New for 2015 scooter: Forza 125, the future Honda bestseller ?
It was not at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne but at a press conference in Paris that Honda unveiled the Forza 125, its new 125 cc sport-GT scooter. A strategic choice revealing the ambitions of the winged crest: stealing from the X-Max 125 its leading position in the French market !

De – big – little extras !
"The Forza 125 is a new scooter that has all the qualities of the references in the segment, each time providing a little extra for each important element", describes the Corporate press manager (cars and motorcycles) of Honda France interviewed by Site.
"Its new engine gives it excellent top speed and good acceleration, for example, while its consumption of 2.3 liters per 100 km is probably the lowest in the category, thanks in particular to the Iddling Stop, the Stop and Go released on the ", continues Bruno Chemin before explaining to the Journal moto du Net that the intended target is obviously the" X-Max ", absolute master of the 125 segment in France.
Developed by Honda to combine low consumption and performance, the unique injected single cylinder of the Forza 125 cube 124.9 cc and develops 14.3 hp and 12 Nm of torque. Values slightly higher than those of the X-Max (), which however reaches its maximum torque at a lower engine speed: 6750 rpm against 8250 rpm for the Honda, potentially of a more "sporty" temperament.
In addition to the mechanical advantage, the Forza 125 also takes the ascendancy in terms of weight with 161 kg fully loaded against 168 kg for the Yamaha, also disadvantaged by a previous generation ABS, heavier (+5 kg on the X -Max against +1 kg on the Forza). These are all essential elements in this category, where the slightest horsepower and kilograms gained have a positive impact on daily enjoyment..
With a classic tubular steel frame and an equally usual variator transmission connected to a belt, the Forza 125 receives a telescopic fork, 15 and 14 inch wheels (like the X-Max) and shock absorber combinations adjustable in preload in 7 positions.
Braking is based on single discs of 256 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear, with a double piston caliper at the foot of the fork. The ABS is offered as an option alongside a 35 liter top case, heated grips, an alarm, a cover, etc..
Well equipped, practical and comfortable: success announced ?
Wanted accessible, it has a saddle located at 780 mm, or 10 mm lower than on the Yamaha. However, Honda was not forced to "cut back" on the volume of the trunk, whose 48 liters capacity can accommodate "two full-face helmets", emphasizes Bruno Chemin.
Other welcome little extras: the windshield is adjustable in height to 120 mm without tools (6 positions), while a switch activating the opening of the boot and the 11.5-liter tank (13.2 l on the X-max) juxtaposes the contactor fitted with a burglar-proof shutter. Everything is very similar to the PCX.
The apron incorporates a deep storage compartment – with 12V socket – on its left side. Only small flaw: this storage space does not lock.
The passenger is not forgotten with a generously padded raised saddle, retractable footrests and sturdy grab handles.
Finally, the last aspect on which this new scooter made in Italy hits hard: its sporty look, particularly successful. Tight lines, LED lighting at the front and rear, half-analog half-digital instrumentation with a neat and complete appearance, stylish "star" spoked rims: the Forza 125 has allure, especially in its two-tone white and blue hue.
"It will land in dealerships in March 2015 and we plan to sell 5,000 units in the first year," Bruno Chemin says. Regarding its price, the press manager is delaying: "its price will be communicated either before EICMA at the beginning of November, or in January 2015".
Insofar as the intended target, the Yamaha X-Max 125, is currently displayed at € 4,399 without ABS (+ € 400 with), it seems logical to think that this new Honda scooter will not cross the bar either – already substantial – € 4,500 in the basic version.
While waiting to land in the showrooms of the concessions, the Forza 125 is on display at the Paris Motor Show until October 19. An additional sign as to its positioning openly turned towards "commuters" without a license…
