News - New Kawasaki ER-6f and ZX-10R - Used KAWASAKI

A month separates us from the Mondial du Deux-Roues but the manufacturers are gradually unveiling the novelties that will take pride of place on the podiums … At Kawa, after the ER-6n, it’s the turn of its streamlined sister ER-6f and of the new ZX-10R to make their debut.

After the pavement "ER-6n" in the pool of medium-capacity roadsters (read), Kawasaki presents the streamlined version of its new twin-cylinder as well as the second generation of the ZX-10R. Warning the eyes…

The ER-6f differs from the bare version only in its front light and fairing. And oddly enough, as Kawasaki Heavy Industries President Shinichi Morita announced "the advent of a new era"with the ER-6n (read), the ER-6f takes again the optics – appreciated but" already seen "- of the Z1000…

An f for fun

Side protection, the complete fairing and the screen should offer honest protection to the big rollers. They will surely be interested in the ABS which will be offered on the two models n and f. On the gray version, the saddle acquires a double color supposed to imitate the single-seater saddles of sportswomen.

But his sporting inclination stops there because for the rest of the bike, nothing is changed compared to the "n": we recognize very well the footrest plates, the pot placed under the engine, the thin tank and slender and the cycle part of modest proportions … Even the handlebars remain the same, Kawa not having seen fit to replace it with more sporty lower half-handlebars.

The ER-6f should be available in December 2005, with or without ABS, for a price that should not exceed 7,000 euros.

The ZX-10R: "big bad ninja"

Released in 2003, the ZX-10R underwent its first redesign, essential in the high-performance hypersport sector … Already very efficient (read and), the "big bad ninja"always wants to be more powerful but also more usable.

At first glance, the differences are striking: the optics have greatly diminished and give pride of place to a giant air intake, the exhausts (in 4-2-1-2) have largely moved closer to the saddle – without going completely under it – and the indicators are still integrated into the fairing … In short, the aerodynamics have been so carefully considered that the new ZX-10R would offer "9 more horses at 280 km / h". Enough to have fun in the Mistral line at Paul Ricard !

The behavior of the bike has been reworked especially in the curves, promises the manufacturer, as well as the geometry of the chassis and the positioning of the engine in order to raise the center of gravity and thus gain in agility. The gas dosage made easier by a smoother arrival of the horses and a better filling of the engine at mid-speed should make "improved acceleration out of a curve", we assure at Kawa which unfortunately does not offer the circuit with the motorcycle…

The new very massive swingarm whose reinforcement passes under the chain is strongly reminiscent of that of the Yamaha R1 and should give the new Ninja "excellent road skills", assures the manufacturer. At the front, an Ohlins steering damper has appeared in order to fully and safely enjoy this bike which seems straight out of the Mondial Superbike (or would rather shine there?).

Finally on the instrumentation side, the dashboard seems complete and readable. The analog tachometer on a white background is the best effect, while the other usual data is all around.

We will understand: Kawasaki will indeed be present at the show this fall! The manufacturer already promises to unveil two other models by then: an interesting ZZR-1400 and a VN900 … Little hearts to refrain !
