News - Norton sketches its future 1200 cc V4 sports motorcycle - NORTON second-hand

Norton is about to leave his niche! Without saying “ Goodbye ” to the neo-retro carrier segment, the small English manufacturer is attacking the – small – sports motorcycle sector, with a new 1200 cc V4. Pause…

Put online for a few hours only on the official site of Norton, a sketch is causing a buzz on the web, and for good reason: it represents the future sports bike of the! However, unlike the Commando or Dominator, this new motorcycle does not play the "Vintage" card….

Clicking on the image returns directly – and only – to a form that customers interested in this future model can fill out. Site obviously hastened to register on this list and awaits news: name of the motorcycle, technical sheet, price, etc..

Norton explains all the same on his that it will be a "brand new V4 motorcycle, equipped with the new 1200 cc engine and a tubular aluminum frame (as at Triumph, Ed), entirely handcrafted in Donington factory ".

We understand better the choice of the RSV4 engine (V4 1000 cc) to propel the racing prototype which was illustrated during the Tourist Trophy 2016: the "SG5" was classified 7th in the company of David Johnson, ahead of 10 seconds the fabulous !

The choice to replace the double oscillating arm of the TT machine – similar to that of the Aprilia – by a single-arm – as at Triumph, again! – is more surprising: by modifying the cycle part, the engineers complicate the task … or even renew it !

Coming back to the single drawing, we discover that the future Norton will be fitted out like a Superbike: Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspensions, forged rims, Pirelli Supercorsa tires … not to mention the ultra-flat and high saddle, the low half-handlebars, the raised and set back footrests. Damned, gonna be some sport !

A Hypersport and not a Superbike

Note, however, that the architecture and the displacement of the mill automatically eliminate the Norton from the SBK championships: this "Hypersport" is therefore intended for driving on the road or driving on the track, but when quiet – so to speak, of course. – driving days.

“The bike will be unveiled to the public at the NEC Motorcycle Live Show in Birmingham in November 2016,” Norton announced. A first batch of 200 copies (in limited edition) is scheduled for mid-2017. Business to follow: stay tuned !
