Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than others – have already been able to follow the unfolding of the 2019 World Supersport race on Sunday live on the Losail circuit (Qatar). For latecomers:
Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Supersport race on Saturday. Honor to the winner !
Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki n ° 44), 1st
“It was a very good race and I attacked to win it. It was hard at the start because I knew I had a better pace than Jules Cluzel, but Corentin Perolari was very difficult to overtake. lost a lot of energy for three laps, because braking hard is not my natural style. When I took first place, I applied a strategy: push hard so that no other rider could stay in my aspiration. Nobody passed me, I attacked really hard on a second lap again and created a 0.8 second gap. Then I managed. I didn’t sleep last night because I’m not in good shape. I have a stomach problem. I didn’t eat before the race and I didn’t feel 100% in this heat, I think I got very dehydrated. But this does not matter, because we end the season with a victory ".
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 2nd
"I gave it my all in the race, but the winner was just a little faster. We have made progress throughout the season, and we are finishing it on the hats of wheels! I scored points at all the races, which had never happened to me, I can’t wait to be next year, we will continue together with GMT94, which announces great things for the future! ".
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), 4th
“It wasn’t the race I expected but it’s fine with me because I know I gave it my all. I attacked hard from the start, trying to stay ahead of Randy and put in as much drivers as possible between him and me, but he rode well and kept pace. At the end of the race, I struggled with Perolari despite a small technical problem that slowed me down. It was a great season in the end, a season we’ve always been ahead. I’m sorry I didn’t win the title for my team after all their hard work, but it’s racing and we have to accept the verdict of the track. ".
Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha n ° 21), 5th and champion 2019
"It’s an incredible day for me. The race was very difficult. At the start I thought I could get past the front but I didn’t find the right feeling with the bike, I couldn’t attack more. last laps, I was thinking more about the championship than the race and I was careful not to make mistakes. I worked for 24 years with the aim of becoming world champion and today I have it. To be frank, I haven’t yet realized that I just won the Supersport title, it still seems amazing. This season has been very difficult and I have to thank a lot of people, starting with my family who have me helped through tough times. Thank you to everyone on the team for their hard work and for helping me win this title ".
Corentin Perolari (Yamaha n ° 94), 6th
"I did everything I could to help Jules during this race, and fulfill my role as teammate as best I could. I finished this season with two good races, with a pole and two heats at the forefront. This winter I will have to keep working to take another step forward and be in a position to play for victory. Can’t wait for 2020 ".
Jules Danilo (Honda n ° 95), 13th
“I gave it my all today and it wasn’t enough. It was my pace from the start and I couldn’t go any faster, it was difficult to manage. I was attacking every lap to keep me going. 2 ’02 or 03. I was on the defensive and thought I could keep Gradinger behind me. I’m disappointed to end the season like this, but life goes on. I enjoyed the season, I didn’t get the results that I wanted and I think I could have done better, but it was overall fun ".
