MNC Obtains Details on Adaptive Motorcycle Cruise Control

BMW Motorrad has just lifted the veil on a vehicle capable of stalling on the vehicle driving ahead. A first in the world of motorcycles, welcomes the German manufacturer who thus makes the brakes to KTM !

Although a K1600GT appears on the synthetic images used to present ACC, BMW France does not yet know which motorcycles will be equipped with this new device, nor at what price this option will be offered, which should arrive in early 2021..
On the other hand, the communications manager Mathieu Maire was able to tell us how ACC works on a curve: "it works as on a straight line, but acceleration and deceleration are smoother so as not to destabilize the pilot".
In the automobile where this type of adaptive cruise control has become commonplace, an "emergency braking" function must limit the risk of collision with stopped vehicles, which the current ACC does not offer. Why future BMW road motorcycles won’t slow down in a traffic jam ?
"Abrupt and complete braking is not controllable for the driver", justifies BMW: "in a car, the driver is strapped to his seat while on a motorcycle, the driver simply seated could be thrown forward, or even go over the motorcycle ". Convinced ?
MNC believes, however, that the bike could brake gradually in order to limit the speed at the time of the possible impact … and warn the driver who is dozing, watching a friend who is too slow in the mirrors, or does not take his eyes off his beautiful TFT screen color to adjust your bike and its infinite functions !
BMW also recognizes that its system will be able to land on motorcycles of other manufacturers: "the" hardware "is Bosch, but all the" software "functionalities are developed by BMW, so other brands will have the possibility of using the same material. in the future but will have to develop their own software ".
