Despite the disappointment of being beaten in the final, the future VDS rider in MotoGP maintains a very large lead in the final standings: Morbidelli finished with 308 points against 243 for his rival Luthi, forced to attend the Valencia GP then the pits following his injury in Malaysia. Hard setback for the Swiss, who will not be able to discover his MotoGP Honda VDS on Monday ….
Thanks to her 9 podiums including three victories, Oliveira finished third in the Moto2 championship: the competition from KTM is trembling as the Moto2 Orange now seems a cut above. Great reward for KTM, which has not chosen the easy way with its trellis chassis and WP suspensions developed in-house.
Alex Marquez, author of a roller coaster season, takes 4th place overall: Marc Marquez’s little brother is aiming for the title in the same team next year in Moto2, on the strength of his rise in power displayed this year.
Francesco "Peco" Bagnaïa, fifth overall, is named "Moto2 2017 Rookie of the Year", while Frenchman Fabio Quartararo finishes 13th.
