Against the speed of 80 km / h, petitions multiply
Faced with the possible drop in speed on the roads to 80 km / h which would be in the boxes of the government, associations for the defense of drivers such as the French Federation of Angry Bikers and 40 million motorists are mobilizing by launching petitions. Explanations.
While the speed limit on bilateral French roads (without a central separator) could be lowered to 80 km / h instead of 90 (read), the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) denounces the "forced passage of this measure, a real sea snake for the Road Safety Directorate, which relies on the wind to defend it ".

- MNC of January 21, 2014 :
Only a limited experiment has been carried out on certain roads, "without the results of this pseudo-experiment having been made public!", Protests the association for the defense of bikers, regretting that the citizens are obliged to "suffer" once again the diktats of "all-speed" and "all-repressive" that our successive governments continue to attack us ".
- MNC Live of December 5, 2017 : The government ensures that no decision has yet been taken
"The experimentation carried out since 2015 on 80 km of national roads (RN7, RN151 and RN57) has shown no real improvement in road safety on these portions", underlines the FFMC by calculating that at the same time, "the number number of vehicles fined by automatic radars installed in these areas was for some multiplied by 3! "
Make the highways !
According to the FFMC, this drop to 80 km / h would only aim to improve the profitability of radars, "already undermined by a senatorial report which criticizes the use of funds collected for purposes other than investments in road safety ".
Angry bikers (and citizens!) Notably demand that "the money collected by radars be used for more safety for users (road maintenance, doubling of guardrails, etc.)" and that "highways, network least accident-causing, are returned to users and accessible free of charge ".
For its part, the association 40 million motorists recalls that the question "Should we reduce the speed limit on the road network?" asked by Le Parisien in April 2015, "the French answered" no "to 74%"…

"This is the new red rag that the government is waving to hide its inability to solve the real problems – economic crisis, unemployment, security", we wrote there about this drop to 80 km / h then supported by Manuel Valls (but yes, the former prime minister) and taken over today by the government of Edouard Philippe (but yes, the bearded man) … History "in motion", in short ?!
