"30% of revenue" from road repression actually used for road maintenance, according to 40 million motorists

For Pierre Chasseray, general delegate of the 40 million motorists association which actively supports Alain Fouche’s project via a, this mobilization against fines for small speeding violations shows "that the radar system is no longer accepted, that it has become the symbol of the tax. Ask a motorist if he considers that the radar promotes road safety, he will answer you that it only serves road profitability ".

"It is therefore imperative for the government to demonstrate that the proliferation of speed cameras is indeed a question of safety and not of easy money. What better proof then than to remove the fine for small speeding violations?", Wonders the delegate general of 40 million motorists who has also just published the results of his survey on the use of revenue generated by road repression – and its juicy tools – in 2015.

Already conducted in 2013 by the association, this survey shows that no less than "1.671 billion euros" were collected in 2015 by road fines, including "658 million euros" for the only fixed fines from speed cameras automatic, "560 million euros" from other traffic violations and "453 million euros" for increased fines (not paid within 45 days), all offenses combined.

At the end of his report, 40 million motorists concluded – figures and graphs to support – that "all in all, it is in reality not more than 30% of the total proceeds of road repression that are really used for ends. improvement of safety conditions on French roads ".
