A great first

One of the most important Tunisian motorcycle clubs, the "Bardo Bikers" chaired by Mohamed Raïs (opposite), organized the opening round of the Tunisian road racing championship 2014. A double championship more precisely, since it brings together road rally and hill climb, the Tunisian Motorcycling Federation (FTM, formerly FTMAA for Tunisian Motorcycling Federation and associated activities) does not yet have the means to have several discipline commissions.

This championship will be contested this year in three double events between January and May. After this test of Tataouine, two other rounds are planned in Bizerte on March 15 and 16 and in Tabarka on May 30 and 31.

For several years there has been a national motocross championship in Tunisia, as well as "road" events such as in 2012. The Bardo Bikers club, which usually meets for rides and concentrations, has decided to embark on the adventure of the competition in 2013 with a Tunisian road rally championship.

As the events of this championship consist only of road courses to be followed in the road book, things are getting more serious with the addition this year of timed specials….

A happy (r) evolution, mainly due to the will of the organizers Mohamed Raïs or Mohamed Keddache, who did not hesitate to put their hand in the pocket in a relatively consistent way to complete the financing of this first and historic championship event of Tunisia road racing.

Authorization in extremis !

The race was authorized in extremis the day before the start, thanks to Mohamed Raïs’ audience with the Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports, Tarek Dhieb, who authorized the Bardo Bikers to override the power of a FTM not very responsive to validate the race

The Tunisian National Road Racing Commission, chaired by Khaled Essaffi and which notably counts among its members the President of the French Road Rallies Commission, Gilles Planchon-Tourly – also worked hard to make this first successful. championship race 2014.

Mission accomplished: the test is a success! The secretary general of the governor of Tataouine, Lotfi Ettih, went to the Hotel Sangho, the nerve center of the Tataouine race, to welcome the pilots and follow the progress of the race, while the governor of Tataouine himself, Mourad Achour, came for the departure and the award ceremony.
