Road rallies - Rally of Corsica: the raid of the Corsican pilots! - Day stage

Unbeatable on their land, the Corsican pilots have once again proven that they are masters at home. Michel Marchini (Honda 450 HM) wins the 5th Corsica Rally ahead of two other island drivers for a podium with the heads of the Moors !

Day stage

Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m. Nicolas Derrien, provisional leader of the 2011 French Rally Championship, leads the way on the handlebars of his BMW F 800 R Panda Moto.

After the showers of the day before the sky remains threatening. The road has partially dried up, but this is not reassuring because the reviews of the previous days were all done in the dry and the landmarks will certainly be different. The first link is very calm and allows you to drive quietly to the Coti Chiavarri stage where the festivities will begin. !

When arriving at the start of the special, Nicolas Derrien must shut down his engine and wait a moment: a bull has been reported on the road at station 11 !

The other competitors gradually arrive and a queue is formed … The rally organizers must definitely face everything … But the wait will not be very long and about twenty minutes later everything fits in. order.

Joseph Campocasso (Husqvarna 510) took the best time in 5’05”89, more than three seconds ahead of Michel Marchini and his Honda 450 HM, himself more than a second ahead of Maxime Olivieri’s Husqvarna 450. The islanders hit hard from the start and monopolize the top ten places! Nicolas Derrien, leader of the “continental” pilots, places his BMW F 800 R here in eleventh position, slamming modestly 5’19”11, 13”22 from the best times !

The next link, linking the Pont de la Pierre special, is much less peaceful than the first but still largely feasible. It leads us to Eccica-Suarella, a nice picturesque town where the 10-minute neutralization is very appreciable after this rather physical one-and-a-half hour connection. !
