At the start of the first stage at 9:30 am sharp, the sky remains threatening but the road is drying. Bruno Schiltz opens the way at the controls of his Aprilia 1100 Tuono by slamming the best times on each of the two stages of the first loop.
But the experience is followed by the youth: Romain Cauquil (KTM 790 Duke CTM83), returned to his optimal form, secures the second time of the first two specials, barely more than a second behind Bruno on each of the two specials . Tanguy Brebion (Husqvarna 701 SM) gained momentum, following in Romain’s footsteps by barely 4 tenths on the second special. Luc Breban’s KTM 790 Duke completes this first lap in third position in the general classification, Elite SW Motech scratch.
Things are becoming clearer in other categories, such as the side-cars where the leader of the provisional, the crew of the "Chanaux" (father and son Chanal) on their Panda Original team, ensures the title almost acquired since their opponent direct, the team Berthomieu / Reynes (Suzuki 1340), is absent. The Duos are also in the rhythm and the Luc Jozon / Willem Houwin crew leads their Yamaha MT-10 in thirteenth position overall in the first special, 9th in the second !
The second lap will see the rain come back … From the second lap on the C.I.T.F special, Luc Breban goes on the attack at the controls and secures the best pendulum, 24 hundredths ahead of Bruno Schiltz. Third fastest time for Romain Cauquil while Fabien Assemat (Yamaha R1) and Damien Lauret (BMW S1000 RR) follow in the following second: the two Maxi Rallye (1000 cc and +) are in ambush, respectively fourth and fifth.
The second passage through Champmillon is again dominated by Luc Breban who is ahead of Bruno Schiltz in the provisional classification of the event. Bruno is certainly starting to release the pressure and is content with the third fastest time, 2 tenths behind the Husqvarna 701 SM of the young Sarthois Tanguy Brebion who is classified here in second position..
In the third round, under torrential rain especially on the specials, the future French Elite SW Motech champion Bruno Schiltz eases this pressure a little too much: he receives a 15-second penalty due to a calculation error in his time schedule. , which makes him clock one minute early at the penultimate time control of the stage! This blunder will not affect him much in the end, being now almost certain to pocket the eight points he lacks … Provided of course that he finishes the stage !
And that’s exactly what he does by finishing the stage with second fastest time, almost a second and a half behind the fiery Tanguy Brebion. The third and fourth are none other than two Rallye 2 (less than 700 cc): Vincent Jouanen (KTM 450 EXC) and Emmanuel Gonzalez (KTM 690 Duke). The fifth fastest time goes to a contender for the podium of the final scratch, remained in ambush until now: Benoit Nimis riding a KTM 690 Duke.
At the end of this daytime stage, Bruno Schiltz knows that after scoring he will have the 2019 French Elite SW Motech champion title in his pocket. Relief for the excellent driver of SMC Sens, who can already secure a second supreme title on his record! However, it was Luc Breban who won the day stage ahead of Tanguy Brebion and Romain Cauquil.
