Road rallies - Rallye du Dourdou: Derrien winner, Toniutti champion! - Act 2: day stage

The pilot KTM official site Julien Toniutti is the 2013 French rally champion, after a fierce battle until the last stage against Florent Derrien, winner of this tenth Rallye du Dourdou. Story of a hotly contested final…

Act 2: day stage

The most revelers who did not go to bed directly after the arrival last night lack a few hours of sleep, but the departure is still given as planned at 9:00 am … The 90 minutes of assistance between two stages being allocated this morning before the start time, the first ones had to get up early…

The day stage is much more substantial than the night one: two passages in the Villecomtal special and three in the Mouret stage, with longer loops than the night ones: now is not the time to fall asleep !

At the first day special, Julien Toniutti sets the record straight with pride: he slams 1’56.76, one second and 15 tenths ahead of the second and third identical times: that of Laurent Filleton on Aprilia 1000 Tuono and Bruno Shiltz on KTM 690 Duke, both in 1’57.91.

One of the advantages of a daytime stage is that you can enjoy the scenery during the cool routes, which is the case for this tenth Dourdou rally! After having braved the courses of some regions of our beautiful country during the season, an obvious conclusion is obvious: it is magnificent, France !

The road book is quite precise and the imposed times close to an average of 50 km / h therefore allow a very pleasant ride (with some gravel near …) to reach Villecomtal, second special of the day circuit.

There, the winner of the Bruno Schiltz put in the forcing and obtained the best time on the handlebars of his KTM 690 Duke (2’12.40), more than 6 tenths ahead of the driver from Le Mans Florent Derrien and his KTM 690 SM (2’13, 02). Third time for Julien Toniutti (KTM 990 SM) in 2’13.78.

A link then brings us back to the Mouret special for a second day pass: the pilot Official site KTM France Julien Toniutti puts on a layer and slams the best time as on the first pass, but with a time lapse of space this time – here: 1’54.85! Laurent Filleton follows in second position on the handlebars of his Aprilia 1000 Tuono, also improving his time on the first lap but remains 1.16 seconds behind the leader in this time (1’56.01). As in the first pass, Bruno Schiltz on KTM 690 Duke gets the third time (1’57.48).

15 minutes of assistance are granted before a final loop for a final passage in each of the two stages, and it starts again.

The course leads us first this time to the Villecomtal special. Bruno Schiltz once again made the powder talk at the controls of his KTM 690 Duke and once again gave himself a better time (2’11.46), followed by Florent Derrien on the handlebars of his KTM 690 SM (2’11.79 ) and Nicolas Pautet on Husaberg 650 FS (2’12.34). Julien Toniutti will be satisfied here with the fourth time (2’12.68).

As for the categories, in Sport in particular, we find another top rider of the Site team, Maxime Mettra, who came to this unique event of the championship to have fun riding his personal Kawasaki 650 Versys: 11th time on this special at some 7 seconds behind the leader, he has flown over the Sport category since the start of the rally !

Big fight also among the 125 between Tanguy Brebion on his 125 HM and Michel Bonneau who plays here the title of the category at the controls of his KTM 125 Duke, the latter also having to face the excellent times of Jean-Pierre Saligne (Rieju 125 Marathon), which risks taking precious points from Michel for the final title of the 125 category.

Le Mouret, last special of the rally and the championship: a beautiful end to the championship for Julien Toniutti who improves his time to another dimension in 1’54.60! Bruno Shiltz is second in 1’55.74, and Florent Derrien third just 5 hundredths behind Bruno (1’55.79). Note the good performance of Maxime Delorme on the handlebars of his KTM 690 Supermoto, here fourth in 1’56.68: he has been consistent all season and if he remains at the foot of the Mono podium for this rally of Dourdou very contested by the headliners, he finished this French championship in second place in the category. A good pilot, certainly !

And finally, no false modesty: Site also signs a superb championship by winning the team classification of the tenth rally of Dourdou, third place in the 2013 championship and the scratch champion title with the official MNC KTM France driver Julien Toniutti !

Which earned the Chevalier de Groland salute to the Site team, then cooling off and watering his victory after this boiling hot rally, jumping the river on his Yamaha 450 WRF … after having them watered in his own way !

For my part, I finished this rally in 23rd position but 14th scratch in the 2013 French Championship, and thus finally returned to Elite (the first 20). A big thank you to my partners Yamaha Motor France, Yam Service, Ixon, Bridgestone, Scorpion and Flash Tunning for their precious help on this French championship.

I took great pleasure in driving this "magic" Yamaha 1200 XTZ Super Tenere … See you next year in MT 09? In the meantime we are already meeting at the end of September for the eleventh Dark Dog Moto Tour, to follow as every year live on MNC: stay tuned !
