A Beaujolais as we like it

Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May took place the fourth round of the Dark Dog Rallye Moto Tour, the 2015 French motorcycle rally championship, the 47th edition of the Beaujolais rally.

Marcus Himself is 10 years old !

, meeting with Site … All this because an infamous knight of Groland,, wanted to present his friend Marcus to the Journal moto du Net on the move in Beaujolais! The current passed very quickly between the rallyman and the boss of MNC.

A passionate discussion then begins between the two characters, in front of a Grolandais cafe in a bistro located in an infrequent street of Villefranche-sur-Saône (69) that the ignoble Sergei used to frequent … At the end of this interview, MNC, fervent fan of road rallies since the, suggests to Marc Troussard to write the report of the following rally (the).

Why Marcus walked in the scheme, no one will ever know! But since that day, a number of various and varied reports with mainly the subject "road rally" in common thread have been published under the signature of Marcus Himself: tire tests, motorcycle tests (the "false binoculars", la, la, etc.), not to mention some endurance like the 24 hours of Le Mans or the Bol d’Or during which MNC was fully on gas, 24 hours without a minute of sleep, the hard way !

There you have it, ten years already, ten years of passion transcribed through the Journal moto du Net. Thank you, readers, and thank you Site !

Marcus Himself

The rally being still located in Blace (69) as for many years, the 150 competitors and their assistants once again invested the village by settling in the different runners’ parks of this nice little town in the Rhône (see our).

Despite the bleak weather forecast, the sun is shining. All in all, an important parameter, which will allow us to better appreciate the route of the rally which promises to be particularly magnificent, crisscrossing mountains and vineyards, drawn by the Club Motocycliste du Beaujolais (CMB).

Program

The rally is well regarded in the region and the municipalities are not hostile to its passage. Also the city of Villefranche-sur-Saône (69) wanted the route of this 47th Beaujolais rally to pass through its home. A prologue of around twenty kilometers is therefore planned with a rally for a 20-minute neutralization in the parking lot of the Geant Casino de Villefranche. Then we get down to business !

A large Blace / Blace loop of 130 km with two specials, St Bonnet and Valossière, to be done twice during the day and once at night, then a small loop of around thirty kilometers which will be covered once during the day and one night time with a passage in the only special of St Bonnet.

Day race

The crew Fred Menard / Beatrice Banut (side Kawasaki 1200 BCS of Team 212) almost did not take the start of the rally: the chassis of the team, which is no longer very young, had started to split the day before the race. race after a final tune-up run.

Fortunately, thanks to the hospitality of the hosts of Team 212 (the owners of the Maisons Neuves estate) and to the welding skills of team top driver Sebastien Brugues, the split frame was repaired in time for a passage from the sidecar to control. technique shortly before departure.

Let’s go for the prologue. A warm-up course without severe constraints in terms of the allotted time takes us quietly to the parking lot of the Geant Casino de Villefranche.

20-minute break that allows the Caladois spectators present to approach the machines and experience the good mood that reigns within the rally.

Patrick Schmuck, alias "Pat the convict", pilot of the Yamaha Tmax n ° 322, takes advantage of this break and replaces his helmet with his headgear so as not to get sunburned…

Three quarters of an hour later, we are back in Blace for the "real" start, that of the first big loop with the first special of the rally located in St Bonnet, less than 5 km further..

From the first pass, Laurent Filleton on the handlebars of the KTM 1290 of the KTM Team France CTM83 announces the colors by posting a time of 2’21.69 or 2.8 seconds faster than the second time, that of Christophe Velardi (Ducati 1200 Multistrada).

Bruno Schiltz is in good shape at the controls of the MV Agusta 800 Brutale of Team MV / Paris Nord Motos / Ultimate Driver: he rides this special in the wheel of Christophe Velardi with only three small hundredths (2’24.49 against 2’24, 52)

The second special of the lap is not very far. We join it 26 minutes later, at the foot of the Col de la Croix Rozier in the town of Valossière.

For me it’s a cold shower, I’m not sure I’ll finish the rally: Matthieu Perrin, driver of the Honda Integra Scooter number 424 who was driving behind me during this link (scooters are a race apart, they often ride together …) notes the front of its fairing riddled with drops of oil !

While inspecting my Yamaha Tmax "Team Deletang", I in turn noticed the left side of my rear tire and the transmission belt coated with oil. The oozing appears to be coming from the shock absorber hose…

The "family" of scooters gets organized and after a quick makeshift clogging using pieces of rag held in the rislans (thank you Kevin Cheylan-pilot of MZ125 number 330- for the provision of rislans …), I decide without knowing exactly where this leak came from (brake fluid, shock absorber oil?), to continue my race by taking the start of this special.

"For the next link we will ride with you," reassures me the convict Pat. As for the "performers", the KTM 1290 Superduke of KTM Team France CTM83 confirms its superiority by setting the best time (1’42.27) and this time sticks 3 full seconds to its pursuer, Bruno Schiltz (MV Agusta 800 Brutale Team MV / Paris Nord Motos / Ultimate Driver).

Florent Derrien, pilot of the KTM Team France CTM83 on the handlebars of his 690 Duke R obtains the third fastest time some 8 tenths later.

But what is the championship leader Christophe Velardi doing at the controls of his Ducati 1200 Multistrada "Ducati Moto Prestige Ajaccio" ?

Christophe obtained here the fourth fastest time ahead of the reigning French champion Julien Toniutti (Yamaha MT09 Team 2B / Deletang / Moraco). The Ajaccian pilot is hampered by a twisted selector during a compression in a very fast left on the St Bonnet special.

Julien Toniutti is doing what he can but the competition is tough this year, the supreme title is coveted and the means implemented to obtain it are important. No less than five drivers are still likely to access it, it is more than confirmed: the 2015 championship is very hotly contested..

The course is really superb. The routes taken are of all styles and seem to follow a real tourist route. It’s beautiful, Beaujolais !

At the end of the first large loop, ten minutes of assistance are allocated. My oil leak is finally located: it is apparently the hose of the canister separated from the shock absorber (not being the original shock absorber …) which must have been pierced due to a rupture of ‘a hitch and all the hydraulics escaped.
Morality: the rear shock absorber of my Tmax is no longer a simple spring…

Bouncing with each passage of a bump, I’ll play grasshopper the whole race !

On the second pass through the specials, Laurent Filleton’s KTM 1290 Superduke R will again be at the top of the standings each time, more than 2 seconds behind its pursuers. In front of Bruno Schiltz in St Bonnet and in front of Christophe Velardi in Valossière, the latter still also handicapped by his selector, this time because of a bad reassembly during the replacement of the part during the assistance…

A "messed up" thread will force him to do the specials on the fourth gear ratio of his Ducati 1200 Multistrada.

Florent Derrien’s KTM 690 Duke R of Team France KTM "camped" everywhere solidly in third position.

In St Bonnet, the leading crew in the sidecar category, the couple Alain and Edith Amblard at the controls of their Suzuki 1300 Hayabusa team, will stick to a good one, bordering on disaster. !

A spectacular rollover arriving too quickly on the right at the top of the pass will force them to abandon the day stage. A little breakage is to be deplored on the machine but the crew comes out more or less unscathed except for a few bruises…

At the end of the second big loop, again 10 minutes of assistance are granted and it starts again for a small loop of about thirty kilometers for a last daytime special passage at St Bonnet.

In this special, it is once again the KTM Team France pilot Laurent Filleton who dominates with a time of 2’19.73, ahead of his teammate Florent Derrien (KTM 690 Duke R) who obtains here 2’22.17.
Third time for the Ducati 1200 Multistrada of Christophe Velardi two hundredths later (2’22.19).

This is not the day for Christophe, the leader of the provisional championship 2015 will also be awarded a 15-second penalty at the end of this first stage for a score one minute early at a time control … not the day, it’s not the day !

Night stage and confirmations

After having repaired the damage of the day and having recovered a minimum, the rally sets out again for its night stage for a large loop and a small one, that is to say three stages..

On the first passage through St Bonnet (at night), master Filleton’s KTM 1290 Superduke won again in 2’22.24. He is followed this time by an "angry" Julien Toniutti who places the Yamaha MT-09 of team 2B Deletang Moraco less than 2 seconds behind (2’24.02).

Bruno Schiltz’s MV Agusta 800 Brutale (Team MV / Paris Nord Motos / Ultimate Driver) follows suit with the third pendulum in 2’24.69.

On the category side, the Amblard husband and wife crew (Alain and Edith) repaired the damage caused by their daytime tumble and placed their Suzuki 1300 Hayabusa team in first place in the sidecar category with a 30th scratch time in 2 ‘ 45.00.

Valossière, again and again Laurent Filleton ahead in 1’46.12. Florent Derrien is second in 1’48.02 and third Bruno Schiltz (1’48.29).

The road route is almost identical to that of the day, except for a short cut of three kilometers so as not to pass through a village in order to disturb the inhabitants as little as possible, but it is still as pleasant and it is not even cold. !

Arrived at Blace, a last assistance of 15 minutes is granted and it is off again for the last special.
Laurent Filleton will end this 47th Beaujolais Rally with a supreme scratch, once again setting the best time on the handlebars of the KTM 1290 Superduke of KTM Team France. He will get a time of 2’25.45 or 2.11 seconds faster than the second time which will go to the local rider, the reigning French champion Julien Toniutti (Yamaha MT09 Team 2B / Deletang / Moraco).

Third fastest time for the Team MV Agusta / Paris Nord Motos / Ultimate Driver rider on the handlebars of his MV Agusta 800 Brutale which posted 2’28.16.

The night confirmed the places of leaders in a few categories, such as Maxime Mettra (Kawasaki 650 Versys) who won the Sport2 category and thus consolidated his lead in the provisional championship. Ditto for Mathieu Bruneau (Honda 750 Integra) that it was impossible for me to pick up with my Yamaha 530 Tmax from Team Deletang mounted on springs…

Mathieu takes the lead in the Scooter category. He is now 38 points ahead, it will be difficult to get back to the front with the three remaining rallies (even with a new shock absorber)…

On the side-car side, the Fred Menard / Beatrice Banut crew and their Kawasaki 1200 BCS team of Team 212 won first place in the Sidecar category at the Beaujolais Rally here but the Amblard crew (Suzuki 1300 hayabusa) led always provisional with a mattress 50 points ahead.

Gerard Spagli and his Kawasaki Z1000 soars to the title in the Old class. The same is true for Kevin Cheylan in 125 with his MZ 125 who has almost the title in his pocket with a considerable lead of 130 points !

Finally Sonia Barbot (Suzuki 1000 GSXR) has also strengthened her lead in the Women’s category..

Laurent Filleton therefore won hands down the 47th Beaujolais Rally with a complete flawless ride on the KTM 1290 Superduke of KTM Team France CTM83. He is ahead of Bruno Schiltz (MV Agusta team MV Agusta / Paris Nord Motos / Ultimate Driver) and Florent Derrien (KTM 690 Duke R KTM Team France CTM83).

The Ducati Moto Prestige Ajaccio rider Christophe Velardi (Ducati 1200 Multistrada) retains the pole of the provisional championship classification, but the battle will be hot on the next events: Laurent Filleton is in second position at only 6 points followed by Florent Derrien, third 2 dots behind

The drivers of the KTM Team France CTM83 are going to gas! See you in Cerdon (01) on June 13 and 14 for the 77th Ain rally: stay tuned !
