Julien Toniutti will try to forget this third stage of the Tunisian Moto Tour: while he was making a crazy comeback, he probably lost the rally on the second special while Sebastien Lagut (Yamaha 450 YZF) won the stage and is comfortably positioned in the lead ….

Sunday’s stage is shorter in terms of mileage than the day before, but will last as long due to heavy delays on the last special of the day.

It’s gravel day today and all the stages definitely favor the two unbeatable Yamaha 450 YZF Supermot ‘from Sebastien Lagut and Julien Toniutti.

The route to Tabarka is superb: the small roads that crisscross between the valleys of northwestern Tunisia offer breathtaking green landscapes !

The condition of the roads is however doubtful and it is better not to look too much elsewhere than where you put the wheels because holes and other breaks can sometimes surprise…

The first special is also surprising: smashed and gravel at will … No doubt, a Supermoto bike was needed for this edition of the Tunisian Moto Tour !

Julien Toniutti, determined to take the lead, posted the best time on the handlebars of the Yamaha 450 YZF of Team 2B / Deletang (1’29.30) He was of course followed by the Yamaha 450 YZF of Sebastien Lagut, but a tiny tenth (1’29.40).

"I’ve never seen that !"

Behind, it beats hard in the categories: in Multicylinder you must not fall asleep to slam a time on these "particular" specials, little adapted to ordinary roads. Franck Tiozzo, the former godfather boxer of the event, is still racing on the handlebars of his Victory in 56th position. Hat !

“I’ve been riding a motorbike for 20 years, but I had never experienced that!”, Explains Franck: “I went through the ravine and I managed to get out to get back on the road without falling, but the casings of my bike keep some traces of it. Apart from this adventure, what marks me the most about the Tunisian is the good atmosphere between the pilots, the beauty of the landscapes and the kids who greet us on the road. a superb experience open to everyone ".

The route will then take us to the ruins of Dogga where the lunch break is organized. A local meal is given in a tourist restaurant on the site and the allocated break time is pleasantly used.

Then it starts again for a connection to the second special, just as gravelly and smashed as the previous one !

There, it is the loose for Julien Toniutti: at the time of the starting signal, the engine of the Yamaha 450 YZF stalls! The first 100 meters of the special are slightly downhill and Julien is keen on the kick while coasting slowly down … The machine will restart after a good 25 seconds, as much time lost on his stopwatch as after his start. , some spectators will long remember this blue meteorite on the special…

Sebastien Lagut naturally obtains the best time and now finds himself with a substantial lead over Julien.

As for Multicylinders, things are also moving: the Ducati 1200 Monster of Franck Coudert is overtaken by the MV Agusta Rivale of the pilot Site of Team Helit Moto, Maxime Mettra.

A small loop of around forty kilometers then brings us back to this same special for a second passage. In terms of the course of the day, everything was going very well so far, but given the accumulation of motorcycles waiting for their departure we can guess that something is happening…

A fall ? Fortunately not, but first of all a local resident of a certain age living on the special who decides to take the road to leave his home. Once this problem has been resolved diplomatically, a herd of sheep is reported on the special, then a cow who had decided to recognize the special "on the legs"…

But the most unusual was still the group of about thirty tourists who lost their guide who go up the special, the only practicable path to return to civilization … In the end, these little contingencies will make us lose nearly two hours, but the race starts again !

In this last special of the day, Sebastien Lagut confirmed his superiority with a time of 1.20 seconds less than that of Julien Toniutti. In the final standings of the day, Sebastien is in the lead with 23.3 seconds ahead of Julien. The second on the stage is Maxime Mettra on MV Agusta Rivale, ahead of Franck Coudert on his Ducati 12300 Monster.

Monday, last stage of the first Tunisian Moto Tour with 350 km to return to Tunis, two specials and one finish of the rally in Sidi Bousaid, at the famous Cafe des Delices.
