Mehdi, a young 24-year-old biker from Lyon, has made four amateur clips for motorcycle road safety (see the videos and our interview below): "The images of the road claim are unfortunately always the same, violent, and accusing. I wanted to go further, but only by speaking. So I made, in a totally amateur way, these clips which speak directly to people, without gory image, without too moralistic speech and with an ironic tone ".

Site: who are you ?
Mehdi : My name is Mehdi, I am 24 years old and I live in Lyon. I have had the motorcycle license for two years and have been a biker for a year and 11 months. So I am quite new to the motorcycle world. This passion came to me by chance … I have never done a scooter, I started directly on the CB500 of the driving school. It was then that I had the click … but also that I discovered the vulnerability of bikers.
Site: what is the objective of your four amateur clips ?
Mehdi : I have also been a motorist for a long time and like many, I had the image of the biker who drives fast. If only I had been taken for a motorcycle ride when I was learning the car … I am also a member of the FFMC du Rhône, and it is with the activists of the federation that I really discovered the causes which have been defended concerning motorcycles for 30 years. I also discovered a number of aberrations related to training and the rules of the road, which is only done for four wheels. I started making videos for the FFMC (demonstrations, parking charter, interview, etc.). I recently wanted to do a motorcycle road safety-oriented spot, a very delicate subject because there are as many points of view on the subject as there are motorcycle models … Not wanting to engage the FFMC on this subject, I made these spots for personal use only.
Site: why did you choose this "quirky" tone ?
Mehdi : As long as the newscast is more violent than any Road Safety advertisement, the "gore" will remain totally ineffective. I tried to find an ironic tone with which a traffic safety message would pass. I didn’t want to destroy my bike just for a spot, so I did it with the means at hand, my equipment, a camera and a broadcast on Youtube and Facebook. Official Road Safety spots on motorcycles do not speak to bikers, but make them feel guilty. Useful ? No. The highway code has further strengthened the rights of pedestrians to cross anywhere, because it is up to the car or motorcycle to stop. Clever ? No (that will certainly be the theme of my 5th spot). Leave a gravel mat on the road. Useful? No. Allow bikes to grill a fire to turn right? Were the geniuses who decided that afraid that we would be bored on the road, so we had to put a little more difficulty? Road safety is always a sensitive subject, everyone defends their piece, that’s normal. My song is the bike, and I intend to defend myself !
