GP de France Moto: no to the stigmatization of bikers !

The French Motorcycling Federation (FFM) and the French Federation of Angry Motorcyclists (FFMC), which have "observed in recent years a clear increase in checks during major motorcycle events", alert the Sarthe prefecture on the issue. need not to stigmatize motorcyclists: during the last Grand Prix de France, "gendarmerie roadblocks installed at the Auvours tollgate (on arrival at Le Mans on the A28, Editor’s note) systematically controlled motorcyclists and only them!" , denounce the two organizations.
Control in moderation ?
"Controls or restrictions can be legitimate if they are justified by the general interest and especially if they do not discriminate against a part of the French population", explains the president of the FFM : "in this case, a multiplication of checks during the French motorcycle Grand Prix vis-à-vis motorcyclists alone would be akin to the stigmatization of this category of road users, or even to motophobia", reminds Jacques Bolle.
For its part, the FFMC has warned the Sarthe prefecture against these systematic checks of all motorized two-wheelers at the exit of the toll on arrival at Le Mans or on the way back, at the Saint Arnoult toll: "these checks discourage the use of the motorway even though it is the safest road network! ", specifies the FFMC, which has taken from the prefecture the commitment to" carry out these checks only on visually non-compliant vehicles ".
"Visually non-compliant" vehicles
"Discrimination against motorcycles would appear all the more surprising given that the statistics published by the prefecture of Le Mans itself show that the conduct of motorcyclists during these major events is no more disrespectful of the highway code than that of motorists ", underline the two motorcycle authorities in France.
The FFM and the FFMC "ask the prefect of Sarthe to apply the rigors of the law to motorcyclists under the same conditions as for other road users and will remain vigilant as to respect for the commitments made".
