As announced by the French Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve (read), the ban on wearing "any device capable of emitting sound" will be applicable from July 1, 2015, under penalty of a fine of 135 € and the withdrawal of 3 points on the driving license.
This is measure n ° 22 of the, providing that it will now be "forbidden for all drivers of cars, trucks, motorcycles, cyclists or bicycles (pedestrians not yet, Editor’s note …) from wear any device capable of emitting sound to the ear (telephone conversations, music, radio) ".
The systems integrated into the helmet remain tolerated
The government, estimating that the telephone while driving is responsible for 10% of bodily accidents while "only 51% 1 of drivers consider that the telephone constitutes a real danger", intends to "fight against dangerous behavior which is becoming commonplace".
But "the ban does not only concern telephone conversation", specifies Road Safety: it also applies "to music and radio, as long as they pass through a device in contact with the ears".
Only remain tolerated while driving "the systems mounted in vehicles or in motorcycle helmets, that is to say without being worn in the ear, or holding the device in hand" ( Bluetooth connection), while "devices for the hearing-impaired, those used by emergency vehicles or for driving training on a motorized two-wheeler" remain of course authorized.
No alcohol for young people allowed
The Minister of the Interior also confirmed that as of July 1, 2015, the reduction in the maximum blood alcohol level would drop to 0.2 g per liter of blood for young people allowed (instead of 0.5 g for other). This measure being sanctioned by a withdrawal of 6 points (and 135 euros fine), a novice driver checked with a rate greater than 0.2 g / l will see his license purely and simply canceled..
"The choice of 0.2 g / l has been favored over 0 g to take into account the ingestion of food or drugs that may contain traces of alcohol", specifies the government, stressing that "this limit can be exceeded as soon as the first glass of alcohol. The message of this reform to novice drivers is clear: 0.2 g / l = 0 glass of alcohol, one does not drink alcohol at all before driving ".
