"The good thing is that we are continuing with the Sachsenring which will allow us to immediately dive into another Grand Prix weekend", rejoices the "Doctor", who is eager to get back in the saddle to overcome this unusual succession of hard knocks: Rossi had not crashed three times in a row since his first season at Ducati in 2011 !
"It will be important to understand if the changes made for the race last Sunday will also be positive this weekend. One of the objectives will be to try to be competitive from the first session on Friday," he predicts.
Rossi under threat from Quartararo ?!
One of the challenges of this weekend will also be to defend his fifth place in the provisional, on which a certain Fabio Quartararo is eyeing! The young Frenchman – 20 years younger than n ° 46 – is only five lengths behind his elder thanks to his successive podiums and the poor performance of the Italian (67 pts against 72).
Another Yamaha rider can also worry Valentino Rossi, so far the brand’s first rider in the championship: Maverick Viñales. The Spaniard moved up to 7th place seven points behind his teammate (65 pts) thanks to his splendid victory at the Dutch GP, his first since Australia.
"Since the victory at Assen, I have the impression of still dreaming," said "Mack". "It came at a time when we needed it most and it gives us the confidence and strength to keep working hard.".
"We come to the Sachsenring with the will to show that this victory in the Netherlands is not a coincidence, but the result of hard work. The Sachsenring is a good track for us: I am usually fast there, so I think we have the potential to get on the podium ".
The first MotoGP free practice session of the 2019 German GP will start on Friday from 9:55 a.m..
