BMW C 600 Sport test: finally an opponent worthy of the Tmax ?
Ambitious and loud, the very first BMW sports maxi scooter directly intends to overshadow the Yamaha Tmax, the darling of busy commuters. Does he really have the means? Site went to check it for you… First try !
Effective if not fun
Despite a serious advantage of displacement, power and torque, the BMW C 600 Sport is less arousing than the Yamaha Tmax: its 60 horsepower evokes more vigorous Percherons rather than wild stallions … Efficiency is when even at the rendezvous, despite almost timid reminders when exiting tight curves where the scooter recalls its almost 250 kilos !
But all this remains of the order of the feelings and only a true confrontation vis-a-vis the Tmax will allow us to confirm or deny these first impressions. By returning at a reasonable pace, we take advantage of a firm scooter for the benefit of rigor, without this not significantly affecting the comfort.
The overall ease of driving makes driving rather relaxing and the 16 liters of the tank should allow you to flirt with the 300 kilometers of autonomy according to BMW France.
This radius of action – to be checked very soon! – allows to consider beautiful and long walks, alone or in pairs. The fate reserved for the passenger seems very correct with a wide saddle and generous handles.
Verdict: strongly the shock of the Titans !
This BMW C 600 Sport is therefore very well born, even if it leaves us somewhat on our hunger on the engine side. Rigorously identical to that of the C 650 GT, the twin of the Sport could have "slipped" through a more aggressive injection mapping, a variator and a clutch.
However, his homogeneity, his complete equipment and his "Premium" tips make him the most serious opponent that the Tmax has ever had to face. Especially since their prices are very similar: the C 600 Sport is displayed at only 101 euros more than its Japanese competitor with the ABS option (11,100 € against 10,999 € for the Yam ‘)…
Moral: stay tuned to follow this Germany / Japan match very soon !
