Kymco is taking advantage of Euro4 standards to continue updating its range of 125 cc scooters. MNC takes stock of the 2017 novelties unveiled this fall by the Taiwanese manufacturer: Agility City 16+, Like and People S.

Agility City 16+ 2017: more practical and CBS as standard

The Agility City 16+ evolves only in small touches: only its LED headlights differentiate it from the previous model, profoundly. This scooter with large wheels (16 and 14 inches) adopts injection on its 125 cc single cylinder, which sacrifices a bit of power and torque on the altar of pollution control: 8.98 hp against 9.51 hp and 9 Nm against 9.8 in 2016.

Another development dictated by Euro4 standards: the introduction of CBS coupled braking, which distributes the force between its front and rear disc. A device identical to the new X-Town 125 unveiled. This Agility City 16+ renews its practical storage compartment with 12V socket, its space under the saddle capable of accommodating a full face helmet and its retractable footrests.

Offered in matt gray or glossy red, the Agility City 16+ is already available in the Kymco network against € 2,199, i.e. a trifle of € 500 more than !

Like 125 2017: neo-retro Euro4

The Vespa in Taiwanese sauce goes upmarket with Euro4 thanks to a revised design, fully LED lighting, a new saddle and CBS combined braking. Its new air-cooled single cylinder – 4 valves compared to 2 in 2016 – delivers 12 hp and 10.4 Nm and responds to Euro4 thanks to injection and work on reducing internal friction. 

The chassis is stiffened and modified, with the main change being the displacement of the 7-liter tank (1 liter more than in 2016). Previously installed under the boot, it moved under the floor in 2017 to the benefit of weight distribution and load capacity. This improvement remains however insufficient to introduce a full face helmet in the trunk of this 12-inch wheeled scooter..

On the practical side, the Like 125 (50cc and 150cc versions are also planned, as) is full of interesting and technological aspects, such as its storage compartment which conceals a USB socket, its key which also controls the opening of the saddle and the fuel flap as well as its instrumentation which can display information from a smartphone via a dedicated application. 

People S 125 2017: state-of-the-art ABS and sharp design

Launched in 1999, the People S is the initiator and the spearhead of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s large wheel offer. This competitor of the Honda SH and Piaggio Liberty renews its mix of 16 and 14 inch rims, in order to reconcile stability and load capacity, like its close "cousin" Agility. Its design evolves favorably for 2017 with a more contemporary general line, enhanced by modernized digital instrumentation, LED lighting and leather upholstery.. 

On the engine side, its new 124.8cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine develops 11.5 hp and 10.4 Nm in compliance with Euro4. Still standards, the People S receives as standard an ABS responsible for monitoring the action of its 260 mm and 240 mm discs, in this case the very efficient "9.1" two-channel system from Bosch. What is the People asking for? ?!

Its practical aspects include a USB socket in the storage compartment, a trunk whose volume is adjustable via a removable partition (a full face helmet would fit there), a tie-down hook to the apron and new shock absorbers adjustable in preload on three levels. The price and availability of this 135 kg scooter are not yet known..

To close this file on 125cc Kymco scooters, let us recall that the brand recently launched its with CBS combined braking and 14.3 hp single cylinder compatible with Euro4 standards. This expected successor to the iconic Dink has been available in concessions since last June, at € 3,699. In addition, Kymco also took advantage of the autumnal shows to reveal its "anti T-Max": the AK 550 below, whose twin-cylinder 550cc delivers 53.5 hp (read our).
