As in August, sales of motorcycles and scooters in September 2019 fell in the 125 sector (-4%) and increased in the larger engines (+ 11.5%). Site studies the figures of the French motorcycle market for its Premium readers. Balance sheet.

Premium readers – who, as everyone knows, are much more fortunate than others – remember the phenomenal record of the French motorcycle market in September 2018: sales of large cubes had climbed by + 9% and those of 125 jumped by + 24% !

Twelve months later, the situation is more contrasted: while the large engines continue their steady rise (+ 11.5% Vs September 2018 and + 11.2% over nine months), the 125 are down slightly (-4%) and reduce their increase over the whole year (+ 14% all the same).

Exceptional last year of course, the weather was not bad in the start of the 2019 school year and cannot be held responsible for the decline in sales of "small" motorized two-wheelers (and the stagnation of large three-wheelers as well. accessible to holders of the B permit, to be found each month on page 125 of the MNC reports).

"Despite a fairly marked episode of freshness from 5 to 10, mildness prevailed with almost summer temperatures during the day over a large part of the country from 12 to 21. The rainy passages were infrequent except in the regions bordering the English Channel and most often not very active ", observes Meteo France.

On the calendar side, the Journal moto du Net observes that September 2019 benefited from one more working day than its 2018 counterpart (21 Vs 20) but that over the same period ("at the same time", what!), The stores opened one day less (20 Vs 21). Everywhere, the ball in the center ?

Business resumed for motorcycle dealers in September: at the 125 cc, the joint return to school – a little -, of the grandes ecoles – a lot? – and offices – "passionately" – led to a rebound in sales of + 19% compared to last August (5213 immats Vs 4399).

In the big cubes where the seasons are more marked, the end of the holidays led to an increase in sales of + 21% compared to August (9730 Vs 8028): the bikers obviously needed a brand new personal travel device or want to have a little pleasure on two … wheels !
