Sales of motorcycles and scooters continue to climb in France and the 125 cc, less valiant than at the beginning of the year, are relayed by the big cubes. According to the monthly analysis of the Journal moto du Net, October 2019 with its increase of + 11.9% is broadly in line with the first three quarters of 2019. Complete review.

+6.5% in, + 13.1% in, + 13.3% in … And in October 2019? + 11.9%! For the fourth year in a row, the French motorcycle and scooter market (125 cc and over) recorded new and good growth in the tenth month of the year.

Last month, 14,569 motorized two-wheelers (excluding mopeds, electric scooters or other gyroroues!) Found buyers in France, confirming the infinite joy that French motorcyclists feel in driving their large displacement and the growing interest of motorists ("scootomobilists") to use a 125 cc scooter or motorbike rather than their car or bicycle.

Whether by passion or reason, the purchase of a new motorcycle in October 2019 could have been facilitated by the mild temperatures (above normal for most of the month, according to Meteo France) but in the same – dirty – weather had to fight against more disturbances than last year.

The rainy passages were "more frequent than normal over a large northern half of the country as well as in the south of Aquitaine, indicates Meteo France," less numerous but particularly intense around the Mediterranean. Sales of motorcycles have nevertheless continued to grow … thus towing sales of rain pants, aprons and other scooter skirts ?!

Le Journal moto du Net observes at the same time that the calendar has neither boosted nor restricted activity. There were 20 working days in October 2019 against 21 in October 2018 (-4.8%), but this shortfall is offset by the number of opening days of concessions – from Tuesday to Saturday – with 23 this year against 22 last year (+ 4.5%).

Last month, the 125 market approached the 5,000 sales mark, an increase of + 5.9% compared to October 2018. The site also notes that the 4,994 registrations recorded in October 2019 only represent a slight slowdown by compared to September 2019 (-4%).

In this "eighth of a liter" category, a quarter of sales in France were made by Honda and a fifth by Yamaha! 7.5% go to Piaggio, 5% to Kymco, 4% to Sym and as much for the electrifying Super Soco, 3.5% to "French" Peugeot (soon 100% Indian) as well as Orcal and Mash (to motorcycles made in China) and 2.5% at KTM.

The market for "over 125 cc" for its part was close to 9,600 units, whereas it barely exceeded 8,300 a year ago (+ 15.3%). The shape of the large cubes last October was such that they almost matched their score in September 2019 (-2%). Will the shorter, colder days of November end this frenzy? ?

Of the 9,575 motorcycles and maxiscooters sold in our territory last month, 18% are Yamaha, 15% BMW, 14% Honda, 11.5% Kawasaki, 6% Harley-Davidson and Triumph, 5% KTM, 4.5% of Suzuki and Royal Enfield, and 2.5% of Ducati. Whether they are blue, red, green, orange, yellow … these builders saw life in pink !
