France is reconfiguring itself but bikers can still ride
To fight against the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, the French government has just reconfigured the population until at least December 1, 2020. Motorcycle dealerships and workshops nevertheless remain open for those who must circulate… Explanations.
Two short weeks after the entry into force of the state of health emergency throughout France, the government has put in place since October 29 a second national confinement, of a minimum duration of four weeks.
The introduction of a partial curfew – therefore insufficient or unnecessary – did not make it possible to stem the second wave of the epidemic, France is entering a second period of severe restrictions on freedom of movement: until at least on December 1, the travel certificate is required (to be printed for a paper version or).

As during the first confinement, bikers can forget long road trips to stretch their rods or short races on the circuit with their friends. "The training sessions as well as the motorcycling events are forced to be suspended again until December 1st, except for professional and high level athletes", certifies the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM).
Small consolation: this ban on riding a motorbike just for fun will be easier to bear because it comes at a completely different time: at the end of autumn, the driving conditions will no longer be those – idyllic! – from last spring (at MNC, we console ourselves as we can)…
No more motorcycle rides … for pure pleasure
If you take your motorbike out now, it’s only to shop for food, go to the office, accompany children from nursery to high school (open, yep!) … The government has once again drawn up a exhaustive list of valid reasons see below.
Only "pretext" not compatible with the use of his motorbike: "to do physical activity (only for an individual outdoor practice such as jogging), to take the air or to walk a domestic animal for a period of one hour and within a maximum radius of one kilometer ".
Please note: the government is banning travel between regions! Of course, this will not be without creating some naughty situations: what if the dealer who maintains your motorcycle is in the neighboring region? Come on mister agent, a little understanding ?!

As in March-April 2020, all motorcycle dealerships and repair shops can remain open in order to allow our brave compatriots "first of duty" to continue to save lives, sell us pulp and toilet paper (but not books).
Be careful, however, of the schedule adjustments made by some dealers: it is better to make a quick call before passing, rather than taking a big rake and having to come back the next day a little later or much earlier. ?!
Concessions, workshops, gas stations: OK !
"Today, in compliance with the protocols in place, we can deliver the vehicles ordered, rent them, maintain them and repair them", confirms the National Chamber of Automotive Professions (CNPA) relieved to see the automotive showrooms integrate the list of "shops essential to the life of the Nation".
"We can also supply them, troubleshoot them, control them and recycle them, while delivering the necessary parts and equipment. We can finally continue to train our employees, face-to-face and remotely," says the CNPA..

For their part, if the driving schools do not understand the "gruesome situation of maintaining driving license exams and closing driving schools, without the possibility of having them revised, which would lead to a higher failure rate and would result in increase the price of the permit! ", jointly exclaim their representatives.
According to them, "the driving schools, in all responsibility, have strictly observed the various health protocols and barrier gestures which has made it possible to not identify, since the deconfinement, any cluster either in training or in examination". They therefore require to be able to remain open, too !
Reasons valid for traveling to France since October 29, 2020
- Shopping for food (essential purchases, purchases of supplies necessary for professional activity)
- Accompany your children to school
- Going to or coming back from your workplace, exercising your professional activity if teleworking is not possible
- Medical reasons (in the hospital, in a pharmacy, at a doctor’s)
- Compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable and precarious people, especially people with disabilities or for childcare
- For a judicial or administrative summons
- Go to training, an exam (such as a driving license) or a competition
- Participate in missions of general interest at the request of the administrative authority (marauding associations for the fight against poverty or distribution of food aid at home)
- Do physical activity (only for an individual outdoor practice such as jogging), take the air or walk a pet for a period of one hour and within a maximum radius of one kilometer
- Go to a public service or to an operator providing a public service (CAF, Pôle emploi, departmental houses), for an appointment at the town hall or the prefecture.
