Faced with the government’s refusal to communicate the results of the experiment decided by Bernard Cazeneuve in 2015, the association 40 million motorists (40MA) publishes its own report.

"The accident observed thanks to the BAAC files (Bulletin of analysis of traffic accidents) for the years 2015 and 2016 reveals that the reduction in the speed limit did not make it possible to reduce road fatalities on the sections concerned in during the first 18 months of the experiment ", estimates the association which asks the government to" give up the measure of generalization of 80 km / h "and launches the" democratic demonstration 40 million motorists, 40 million voters ".

After having listed all the accidents that occurred between 2012 and 2016 on the three sections of roads concerned by the experiment in Drôme (26), Haute-Saône (70) and between Nièvre (58) and Yonne (89) – a total of 86 km! -, the conclusion of 40 MA is clear: "the lowering of the speed limit to 80 km / h from July 2015 did not make it possible to reduce the number of accidents – and more particularly the number of accidents fatal – of traffic. In some sections, accidents have even increased with the implementation of the experiment! ", reveals Pierre Chasseray, general delegate of the association.

"40 million voters reject the president’s lies"

The mobilization of car and motorcycle drivers against 80 km / h is therefore continuing with the launch this morning of the operation "40 million motorists, 40 million voters".

"The only reason the government refused to provide the results of the experiment is that it did not confirm their statements," said the association. "We can therefore say today that these are false. Moreover, if Emmanuel Macron had announced, while he was a candidate in the presidential election, that he intended to lower the maximum speed authorized to 80 km / h on all the roads of the secondary network, it is certain that he would not have been elected! ", Continues Pierre Chasseray:" or 40 million motorists are 40 million voters, and these voters refuse the lies of the president ".
