New features for the Coyote driving assistant
The boxes and the Coyote application evolve as the summer crossroads approach: notification of motorway personnel, updating of roads crossed at 90 km / h and new alerts for dangerous bends. The European leader in connected driver assistance systems is also deploying its own voice assistant … Explanations.
Coyote, a collaborative driving assistance system used by "more than 5 million" drivers, adds a new type of warning to its "30 road safety alerts": the "Motorway personnel" alert which will be displayed at from July 8, 2020 on the Coyote application and the Up and Nav + boxes (but "not on the Mini", Coyote tells us).

This new feature aims to avoid accidents involving motorway personnel, of which "two vehicles on average are struck during intervention each week", explains the "European leader" in connected driver assistance services. An alert to be taken seriously, therefore, on the eve of the first holiday departures.
In collaboration with "Autoroutes Trafic", the French company is improving its reports of incidents on motorways (accidents, stopped vehicles, objects on the track, etc.): "the dangers reported by motorway personnel, calls from drivers or the video surveillance cameras will complete the alerts declared by the Coyote community, which themselves will feed the motorway supervision ".
A small 80 km / or a big 90 km / h? Response with Coyote !
Another damn useful function today: the continuous updating of speed limits, in particular on the secondary network where 90 km / h is back on certain sections as authorized by the mobility orientation law. But for the moment this only concerns the roads of 14 departments: the 87 others are still at 80 km / h! A little overtaking happened so quickly…

"This difference between departments will reinforce the need to have the right information at the right time," believes Coyote, who is already ready to update his data for the next departments having announced their return to 90 km / h (Loir et Cher, Charente, Hautes-Alpes, Orne, Aveyron, Sarthe and Jura).
Predictive security
Coyote is also continuing to develop its so-called “predictive security” information, based on an “algorithm that analyzes community data”. The first application of this system unveiled at the end of 2019 takes the form of an alert to signal a dangerous turn, with a recommendation of the "suitable speed" to negotiate it.
Not sure that this kind of advice is followed to the letter on a motorcycle, especially on a beautiful winding road! However, this report can be a precious help on an unknown route: what biker has never felt a little moment of panic when arriving a little quickly in a tight curve blind ?!
Another relevant innovation reserved for motorists: the dedicated voice assistant to communicate an alert without manual action on the box or the telephone. In short: Coyote users can now report dangers encountered on their route (and, incidentally, speed cameras, etc.) without taking their hands off the wheel, simply by activating the voice assistant..
Remember that access to real-time Coyote information is done either through a box with a color screen (and touchscreen on the Up and Nav + versions) to be fixed in the cockpit of his two-wheeler and / or his car. , or from the Coyote application via a connected phone. Some cars also integrate Coyote directly into their on-board computer.
The prices of Coyote boxes range between 119 euros and 289 euros thanks to a promotion of 60 euros valid "until August 16, 2020". To this price is added a monthly subscription of 12.99 euros (decreasing price with commitment over two years). The application is free to install but then requires a subscription from 5.99 euros per month while some competing solutions, such as Waze, are completely free..
