Sylvain Guintoli was counting on returning to service this weekend at Brands-Hatch for the 8th round of the British Superbike championship..

Unfortunately, his physical condition will not allow him and it is again Tommy Hill who will ride his GSX-R 1000 prepared by the Worx Crescent team. As a reminder, Sylvain was torpedoed in the warm-up lap of the first race at Donington Park last May and suffered nasty injuries to both legs….

Our favorite n ° 50, which is starting to find the time long – and we understand it! – spoke recently with Suzuki Great Britain: here is the translation published on Sylvain’s official website. Courage "Crazy Frog" !

The accident

"I didn’t see anything coming at all, I just heard a loud noise and I flew into the air. Then I felt a strong pain in my leg and I ended up in the gravel. My boot was pointed at 45 ° to the side. I immediately understood that the injury was serious. "

The injury

"The operation went well. Two days later another skin graft operation was performed. I was scheduled to stay in the hospital for quite a while but a week later I was off. back home! Little by little, I recovered. My leg muscle mass needed to get back to its initial level. Bone mass recovery is also another absolute necessity. Anyway, the bone is broken. On one side, a piece of bone has disappeared, it may be somewhere in my boot … On the other side, the bone is really fragmented. so the leg is still swollen. With this type of fracture there is always a risk that the bone will not come back to its original state, so I have to keep myself in good shape and move around as much as I can to keep the blood flowing in the leg. This is not easy as I cannot do low impact exercise like swimming, due to the risk of infection. ction following skin grafting. A bit of a hassle … "

Forced rest

"It’s not easy watching someone else get on your bike. In fact, it’s difficult for the team too. They had to find a replacement. I inevitably have a natural feeling, a certain form. jealousy. However, it is normal that my replacement benefits from the work we have done with the team since last winter. The team must continue, for Suzuki, for the sponsors. For me, the hardest part is "is not being able to compete. I’m a pilot, that’s my job. When you can’t do what you’re doing, it’s just boring to death."

The path to follow

“I thought I would be back for the Brands Hatch race in August, but that’s not possible. I have to wait until everything is back to normal. I would like to come back to the team next season. We have shown Right from the start of the season, Suzuki, the Worx Crescent team and I, that we had the capacity to be in contention for the title. The goal set for 2009 is unfinished. So yes, I would like to come back to win. "
