Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R (!): Initial information
Unveiled last year at the Eicma show in Milan, the all-new 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 reveals its last secrets to us at the Intermot show in Cologne. Cachotière, Hamamatsu’s Superbike arrives in two versions: with or without "R"… Explanations.
Page 2: Suzuki GSX-R1000R, the chef’s surprise for 2017
While the 2017 GSX-R1000 is "content" with a Showa Big Piston fork and a conventional shock absorber – both fully adjustable (fast and slow compressions differentiated at the front, please!) – the new GSX- R1000R is equipped with suspensions of the same brand but of the "Balance Free" type: that’s it, the same as on the last one !
At the same time, the "Gex-R" integrates the now un-controllable inertial unit (IMU) allowing finer degrees of intervention from traction control and ABS. It also has a bidirectional quickshifter and a gun start assistant … and keeps the one present on the GSX-R1000 which facilitates starts on idle..
Mechanically identical in all other respects, the GSX-R1000R is aesthetically distinguished from the GSX-R1000 "quite simply" via slender position lights located on either side of the optical unit. She shares the "Metallic Triton" blue color with her sister (MotoGP, what), but keeps the black / blue outfit to herself. The GSX-R1000 is available in red or black / red.
An ultimate mystery now hangs over the new GSX-R1000 and its R version: their price! To get to the bottom of it up to date, Site does not spare and walks the aisles of the Intermot 2016 fair … !
