Bridgestone backs up for three Moto GP seasons
Bridgestone took advantage of the opening of the 2011 Moto GP season in Qatar to announce the renewal of its status as sole tire supplier in the premier class until the 2014 season inclusive.

Supplier of the Moto GP since 2009, just seven seasons after arriving in the world championship, the Japanese tire maker has signed a new agreement with Dorna (the Spanish company which manages the rights of the Grand Prix) stating that "Bridgestone will continue to supply tires and support technique to the teams and riders of the premier class when the Moto GP enters a new era with the return of the 1000 cc ".
Mikio Masunaga, Vice-President of Bridgestone Corporation, first of all wanted to "convey our deepest condolences to the people who are suffering the consequences of the terrible earthquake last week. We sincerely hope that the victims will soon return to normal life. and the Bridgestone group is of course committed to helping them ".

Describing the Moto GP as "a key platform for the image of Bridgestone", the vice-president specified that maintaining this commitment in the premier class would "improve the safety criteria and performance of the tires that we offer. to the general public ".
The announcement of the renewal of this partnership puts an end to several months of expectation concerning the will – and the ability – of Bridgestone to stay in Moto GP, knowing that the Japanese tire manufacturer has because of the crisis, to the benefit of his Italian competitor Pirelli, also sole supplier in World Superbike.
