New Zealand rider Bruce Anstey broke the speed record this weekend in Supersport during the Tourist Trophy 2014 riding his Honda (213 km / h), but Michael Dunlop won the Superbike on BMW while Gary Johnson (Triumph) wins the Supersport category.
On the handlebars of his news, Michael Dunlop signed on Saturday on the Isle of Man his 8th victory in the Tourist Trophy ahead of Guy Martin (Suzuki) and Connor Cummins (Honda).
After having given up on the WSBK and the endurance world championship, BMW is savoring this historic moment which comes exactly 75 years after its first TT victory in 1939 on the Type 255 Kompressor (reread our).
“It’s been 75 years since BMW won the TT in 1939, so today is a great gift for their museum,” said Michael Dunlop: “The BMW Motorrad / Hawk Racing team is working perfectly well and we have showed everyone that you could do two full laps on this S 1000 RR. The BMW shows its potential, there is still a lot to be expected from this bike ".
"It was a good effort and I really enjoyed this race, but it’s still a second place", observes for his part the darling of the drafting, Guy Martin. “The bike didn’t give up and the team did a great job today, but I take my hat off to Michael who rides really well. I knew Conor was coming back to me on the last lap and I even thought that I should be repeating Michael at the cost of considerable effort, but I loved it! "
For his part, Bruce Anstey (Honda) becomes the first rider in TT history to have driven over 132 mph (212 km / h), even reaching 132.298 mph (212.91 km / h) in the sixth and last round…

In the Supersort category, bereaved by the disappearance of Bob Price (see opposite), Gary Johnson wins the race on the handlebars of his Daytona 675R ahead of Bruce Anstey, author of the speed record on the TT (on-board camera below).
"I think this victory means more to me than my first one, because the whole Smiths Triumph team did a huge job", explains Gary Johnson: "With Metzeler tires, we have a good combination to win races and thanks with our good tests, we were able to win the victory ".
