The 2014 Tourist Trophy was once again in mourning with the death of driver Karl Harris during the Superstock race. His disappearance comes 24 hours after that of Bob Price, killed during the …
Three-time British Supersport champion, Harris began racing TT races in 2012, after starting his career in the 1990s with Team Great Britain in the Superteen championship. He then won the European Superstock 1000cc Championship in 1999, before joining World Supersport for one season..
"Back on it tomorrow, tonight we sleep"…
"Karl was a hell of a character in the paddock", regrets Gary Thompson, head of the race: "his infectious enthusiasm and his sense of humor had illuminated many events. He had an enormous talent and he will be sorely missed.".
As always in such a case, an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident which occurred to Joey, in the second lap of the race..
"Tomorrow it starts again, tonight we sleep", further indicates his last tweet published on June 2, on the eve of his death … The entire MNC team joins in the pain of his family and loved ones.
Scott Redding cancels TT participation
Following these two tragic deaths, British MotoGP rider Scott Redding, who was scheduled to participate in the Tourist Trophy parade today, canceled his trip to the Isle of Man.
The 21-year-old pilot explains that he was "devastated" by these two disappearances and more particularly by that of Bob Price, "a close friend who played a big role in my career".
"Bob died doing what he loved (…), but that did not make his disappearance easier to live", continues Scott: "yesterday I learned that Karl Harris had also lost their life and their death hit me harder more than I thought I would. Honestly, I’m devastated and that’s why I won’t be going to TT on Friday. Not because I have something against the Isle of Man, but because that I prefer to mourn Bob in the places where I knew him well, not where he was taken from us. I wish all the competitors on the Isle of Man to run safe. "…
