The Benelli TRK502 trail classified X in 2018
Benelli reinforces the off-road skills of its mid-capacity trail TRK502 with a new "X" version, equipped in particular with spoke rims and specific suspensions. Ready for adventure, the 2018 Benelli TRK502 X ? Presentation.
Discovered in Milan (Italy), the Benelli road trail took its time to arrive in concessions …! This ignition delay – common with Benelli, as with the – is explained in particular by the switch to Euro4 of its 499.6 cc twin, perfectly calibrated for the with its 47.6 hp (45 Nm of torque).

A year later, a more adventurous version appeared: the TRK502 X. This 2018 novelty is easily identified by its new silencer in the high position – much more suitable for off-road than the old one under the engine way – and its tangential spoked rims in 19 and 17 inches, which replace the 17 "spoke wheels of the standard TRK502.
Tire dimensions are also evolving towards values common to trails: 110 mm at the front and 150 mm at the rear (120 and 160 on standard TRK502), modification allowing the installation of mixed tires supplied by Metzeler (Tourance Next). The brand of Italian origin – bought in 2005 by the Chinese group Qianjiang – has also grafted a central stand, absent on the base model.
New suspensions
The other major change affects the suspensions of the TRK502 X: the inverted 50 mm fork and the single-shock absorber adopt revised settings to match incursions out of bitumen. The Sino-Italian manufacturer also indicates to have increased the travel with the same objective, without however specifying in what proportions.
This increase in travel must however prove to be substantial since the ground clearance increases from 190 mm on the original TRK502 to 220 mm on its "X" variant and the seat height goes from 800 to 840 mm! Short-legged refrain, especially as the weight is 238 kg in running order (+ 3 kg).
This significant mass for a mid-displacement trail is coupled with an equally generous wheelbase: 1525 mm. Values which suggest foolproof stability, in the absence of great handling and energetic stimuli. Less than 50 hp for almost 240 kg: the power-to-weight ratio of the TRK502 X does not shake !
The tubular trellis frame and the rest of the chassis are identical, with the exception of the front brake calipers which go from four to two pistons – without MNC fully understanding the reason … Benelli, on the other hand, has retained the robust protections engine and handguards of the original version. Too bad that a metal engine guard does not complete this endowment.
The 20-liter tank is also renewed in its functions, as are the luggage rack and the screen (not adjustable). This TRK502 X – freely inspired by the on its front part – is available in white, black or red at € 6,799. For comparison, the – more typical road – is at 6,699 €…
