Five French people to follow at Magny-Cours !

WSBK - Five French people to follow at Magny-Cours! -

On Sunday at Magny-Cours, attention will mainly be focused on the Haga / Spies duel. But between the two SBK rounds, the Supersport event should prove to be very interesting with Foret, Lagrive, Four, Auger and Enjolras who will ride in front of their audience. !

It is certain, Sunday at Magny-Cours (58) the attention will be focused mainly on the duel between Nitro Nori and Big Ben: the "old" Japanese against the young American, the experienced against the rookie, the Ducati rider Vs the Yamaha rider…

However, between the two Superbike races will be held that of Supersport … A particularly exciting event for the French since five of our compatriots will be at the start: Fabien Foret of course, but also Matthieu Lagrive, Olivier Four, Fabrice Auger and Julien Enjolras !

Member of the official Yamaha team, Fabien Foret is racing this weekend for victory. After a difficult start to the season (read our), the Charente driver is keen to end the year with good results, especially since theoretically 3rd place in the championship remains within his reach….

Fabien will however find it difficult to climb on the final podium – that of the championship – insofar as on his Yamaha n ° 99 blue helmet and blue-white-red helmet – obviously! -, the French driver has amassed 115 points since the first event at Phillip Island.

23 points ahead of him is Joan Lascorz and his Kawasaki while 15 points higher still points Kenan Sofuoglu, his Honda and their famous 3rd place in the provisional. His mission therefore promises to be impossible … but not French ?

In any case, we are counting on Monsieur Foret to set the mood on the track and in the stands and get on the Nivernais podium! Paradoxically, it would be a first in his career in World Supersport, yet crowned with a title in 2002. All the more reason to encourage him !

A second French driver should take the lead and perhaps even fight for a podium in Supersport: Matthieu Lagrive, back on the CBR600RR of his Team Honda Althea !

Promoted to the Superbike category during the season, Matt will not be able to participate in the French round on his CBR1000RR: Magny-Cours is not the training circuit chosen by the team at the start of the season, the Norman’s participation in the last Bol d’Or prevents him from taking the start alongside Spies, Haga, Biaggi and Corser…

Sick in Imola last weekend, Lagrive was reassuring yesterday: "my physical condition is good now and i feel great". The n ° 14 – like Randy in MotoGP! – will therefore be one to watch closely: he knows the track like the back of his hand !

Olivier Four is not to be outdone: winner of the last Bol d’Or riding the Suzuki n ° 1 SERT – he won the 2007 edition on the Yamaha n ° 94 GMT! – he also knows the track in every nook and cranny and should take the opportunity to mingle with the best.

Finally, integrated into the Intermoto Czech team for the last three races of the season, O4 ‘- pronounced in the English "O Four" – was also noticed in Imola last weekend by pocketing 3 points during his very first World SSP race. Who knows what the French Supersport champion will be capable of on Sunday ?!

We will also note the presence this weekend of Fabrice Auger on his Yamaha R6 n ° 61 (read) and that of Julien Enjolras on one of the Daytona aligned by the Parkingo BE1 team – his will be flanked by the n ° 82 -, alongside by Garry McCoy and Chaz Davies.

Unfortunately, in the absence of Regis Laconi and Matthieu Lagrive, no French will compete in the Superbike races: all the more reason to support the friendly David Checa, fiery colt of Christophe Guyot within the GMT94 team. !

"Despite performances still below our expectations, David showed that he fought to the end and that only reinforces the desire to work to understand why our bike is fast in the French championship, in endurance and so slow in the world superbike championship", declared the GMT after Imola (17th and retirement).

"The team still has three days to try to find a cure before the Magny-Cours race at the end of the week. We will do everything to try to glean a position in Superpole"… Response from Monday in the full Site reports !
