WSBK - World Superbike: final tests 2014 in Jerez -

Several World Superbike teams are doing their last tests of the year in Jerez this week. Among them, Ducati Althea and Aprilia Red Devils have just completed their program and aspire to a good vacation… Here are their latest 2014 reports.

The winter break for pilots registered for the 2015 Superbike World Championship begins on December 1, next Monday, already! Present on the track Monday and Tuesday with their little comrades, Leon Haslam, Michel Fabrizio, Nico Terol and Matteo Baiocco are the first to be on vacation…

Author of the third best time at the end of the second day (see results at the bottom of the article), Haslam ended a difficult year 2014 on a very positive note: the n ° 91 finished a breath away from vice-champion Tom Sykes and a big tenth of a second behind provisional leader Alex Lowes.

"The RSV4 is fantastic !Leon exulted as he got out of his new Aprilia.Despite the unstable weather, I was able to work with my team and realized that my riding style is already close enough to what I need to exploit the great potential of the RSV4 RR".

Nailed to the pit on Monday by several showers, the former Honda rider was able to take advantage of the cloudiness of the next day: "I progressed with each outing and it was not difficult to find a good feeling with the bike and my new team", he assured Tuesday evening.

"I go home happy and confident for the coming season, Leon Haslam concluded. Unique disappointment for the "Pocket Rocket": "let the boys practice in the sun. Doh", he tweeted as he left the Andalusian circuit on Wednesday noon !

On the other side of the Aprilia Red Devils Roma box, a double test took place: at the controls of the new RSV4 RR was also Michel Fabrizio. The Italian rider who only made a few freelance work for Kawasaki Grillini in 2014 could return full time in 2015 !

"I’m very happy to have been able to ride a Superbike again", reported the n ° 84 this Tuesday evening."These two days were enough to rekindle my enthusiasm and make me understand that I am ready for a season in the World Championship, with a competitive motorcycle and team.".

Fifth fastest time of the second day, behind new Kawasaki recruit Jonathan Rea but ahead of new world champion Sylvain Guintoli Himself, the ex-Ducati official (alongside Bayliss in 2008 then Haga in 2009) seems to be- he scored points…

" Michel needed time to readjust but he showed he can do it quickly", says Andrea Petricca, the boss of the Italian team."We will analyze the data in the coming days and study the situation". Fabrizio and his fans are crossing their fingers !

Without transponders, the two Ducatis of the Althea team do not appear in the rankings. "The lap times were clearly not the goal of this test but were still encouraging", ask us to believe the leaders of the team.

"Our first test with the bike we will be riding next year went really well", approves their pilot Matteo Baiocco."I’m very happy because we were able to do some good laps with the race tires and we were close to the leading group", he says.

Development driver for Ducati – he worked on the 2015 version of the Panigale R -, "Baiox" was entered in the Italian championship this season: "So I have to start from scratch and learn new things", considers Matteo. The tests are also made for this.

Great unknown for the coming season, Nico Terol says to himself "very satisfied with these two days of testing, although we only had two half days due to the bad weather. My feeling on the bike is improving lap after lap but I need to spend more time on the track to continue".

"The team and I did a great job", guarantees the Grand Prix 125 champion at his word,"we have identified good solutions and tried different things to improve the grip. I’m happy and optimistic because I know I can do even better".

Nico is eager to resume testing in January at Portimao, a track that is not part of the MotoGP calendar. "I’ll be ready for the first race in Australia", already ignites n ° 18,"I hope not to disappoint the team and the many Spanish fans who follow me with passion". To be continued…

The end of these last tests of the World Superbike 2014 is also "to be followed" on Site. Closure of the Jerez track scheduled for Friday evening. Results and full report to find next week on your Moto du Net Journal: stay tuned !
