It’s not every day that a three-time Formula 1 world champion contributes to the development of a special motorcycle series. Especially since this LH 44 is a tribute to the driver in question. Mercedes is showing itself more and more alongside the Schiranna brand these days; not surprising given that Etoile owns 25% of the capital.
The Mercedes driver worked closely with the CRC for this MV-Agusta which will only be produced at 244 units. A selection of around 50 details and chosen pieces give an exclusive cachet to the 800 Dragster RR LH 44.
On this very special MV, there are a number of 3K carbon fiber elements: the mudguards, the exhaust cover, the frame side plates, the air intake scoops, the swingarm guards, the gable cover, the small windscreen, the ….
Wait, what is 3K carbon? It’s like the definition level of a teloche ?
Uh… .. Almost; but in reverse. With this material, the less K, the better the quality. We are talking here about the mesh of the fiber. In 3K, the mesh is crossed, with 3000 carbon filaments per thread. Top, longer and more expensive to manufacture than 12K which is mostly used but heavier and coarser.
The bloody combination of colors, the Hamilton stamp, the 44 stamped on the MV and the carbon parts are not the only elements to raise the prestige of this edition. The bike is also adorned with an Alcantara saddle with crossed stitching finished with an embroidery of the rider’s logo, a mat black finish for the half-handlebars, the stand, the triple trees, the footrest plates, and of a selection of red anodized Ergal parts. The levers, brake fluid reservoir cover, tank cap, perforated engine casings protections are made from this noble material. Final touches: the 44 badged on the ignition key and the nameplate adorned with the signature of Lewis and the logo of the panther, his emblem.
Unsurprisingly, the price is totally indecent. An argument that will hardly appeal to the future owners of this future collector.
