Created to make every biker fantasize, the MV-Agusta F4 brilliantly fulfilled this mission, until it became sublime (and inaccessible) with the Tamburini and Veltro versions. But the Varese brand is above all a brand with a halo of immense prestige in the competition, and it wants to impose itself there again.. MV has been gradually returning to the race for some time and the experience gathered allows the manufacturer to present today an F4 ready to do battle in a Stocksport-style championship: the F4 1000 R.
This “R” does not sum up the appearance of new rims and a new color. No, it means a lot more modifications than the bike suggests.
First step: the chassis. By working on certain tubes of the trellis frame, engineers were able to reduce the weight in certain sections while maintaining the rigidity of the whole. The new forged aluminum rims also contribute to the overall weight loss, which results in a loss of 4 kg.
True to its rank of impressive machine, the F4 1000 R commands respect with its front axle worthy of the Superbike. The 50mm diameter Marzocchi fork is fitted with Brembo 4-piston radial calipers. To adapt to the new weight as well as the additional power, the damping laws have been revised to offer more comfort and efficiency..
Extra power? That’s right. The 4 cylinders with radial valves (whose inclination is modified) are offered a small update. New distribution diagram, new pistons, optimized ducts, new electronics and 8 hp more that allow us to join the best Japanese. 174 hp leave the vilo at 11,900 rpm.
Black dress with red piping … The F4 R is sober and provocative. Only a few small details are to be noted: dashboard graphics, modified screen, new saddle covering … nothing obvious, the essential remains: this sublime line, insensitive to the bites of time.
