But there is also an electro-hydraulically adjustable variant. The adjustment range is several centimeters in each case.

Ergonomics change at the push of a button
Accessory provider MV Motorrad-Technik offers height-adjustable footrests and handlebars for various models. If desired, even electrically controlled, i.e. at the push of a button.

You can only drive well if you sit well. MV Motorrad-Technik is a specialist in handlebar risers and handlebar relocations as well as lowering footrests (also for passengers) for a large number of motorcycle makes. This also includes almost all BMWs from GS to the S 1000 RR and various K models through to the Rnine T family. The latest highlight is one “flexible driver footrest”: Thanks to the ingenious mechanism, it can be lowered by 20 or 40 millimeters in less than a second. Pair price: 430 euros. Suitable adapters also allow higher starting positions on request – with a lot of lean angle in curves (racetrack!) Plus a relaxed knee angle on tour or on arrival.

Gunter Verhaben, head of the company, simply does not want to come to terms with the fact that “Motorcycles are supposed to be the only vehicles with unchangeable ergonomics.” The crowning glory of his work are electrohydraulically continuously adjustable footrests for 1,600 euros. Driven by a hydraulic pump with an electric motor, they go up or down to the desired height within two to three seconds. At the push of a button, the Vario handlebar (2,600 euros) comes up to 70 millimeters towards the driver, thanks to two electric motors with planetary gear.
Change clearly noticeable
The effect on a BMW R 1250 RS that we drive is enormous: The respective height of the notches and handlebars change the feeling for the front wheel, the overview and even the position of the knees on the tank. Ultimately, the ergonomic change thus affects the entire contact area between man and machine, the motorcycle “feels different.” With the handlebars down, you have to stretch yourself well over the RS tank with a lot of tension on your backbone, with the handlebars raised electrically you sit much more touristy with a wider view of the horizon. With deep footrests you can practically enjoy a right knee angle; when put up, the same motorcycle looks significantly sportier.
In addition, handiness and lean angle change in no time, noticeable in every roundabout – does the tip of your boot scrabble over the asphalt early or not? Feels like driving different motorcycles within seconds. Even you as a driver change on the machine within seconds. Class! Depending on the set height of the footrests, however, the accessibility of the gearshift lever and brake pedal sometimes suffers. That is actually a distinct disadvantage.
Gunter Verhaben: “I just enjoy finding suitable solutions for many problems relating to seating and driving comfort.” After all, the motorcycle should adapt to people and not the other way around. If there are still no conversions for your own motorcycle, MV Motorrad-Technik therefore also offers custom-made adapters.
