True to its leitmotif of luxury and high-quality craftsmanship, the small manufacturer NCR reinterprets the concept of the Ducati Monster. His new M4 is a real sculpture, entirely devoted to carbon and noble materials.. Its design is reduced to the bare minimum, with a rear that can be reduced or maxi-compact, as desired. It’s rough, stripping, wild !
Ultra-light, the 1100 M4 weighs only 130 kg when weighed. That’s barely more than the weight of a 450 cross. How did NCR achieve this minimal mass? Through the massive use of carbon fiber. To keep it simple, let’s make a list of everything designed with this material: the reservoir, the timing belt covers, the air box, the self-supporting saddle, the mudguards, the oil cooler bracket, and even the rims are carbon. Minimalist, the tubular trellis frame, weighing just 4.8 kg, is made of titanium. The sublime and tortured exhaust line has to be content with steel while allowing itself only a small 5.1 kg. Small parts such as triple trees or footrest plates are made of aluminum cut in the mass. In this world of shades of gray, bright yellow marks the signature of Ohlins, supplier of the 43mm inverted fork and steering dampers and rear suspensions. A touch of red for the Brembo brand, supplier of 4-piston monobloc radial brake calipers.
NCR loves Ducati tuners. The twin fitted in the M4 is none other than the 1100 of the Monster Evo. Here, 107 horsepower and 11.5 mkg of torque are produced. But the One Shot version of the M4 is much more enticing. Raised to 1200 cm3, the desmo can spit 132 horsepower and push more than 14 mkg of torque. In this version, the weight drops to 126 kgs. A superb power-to-weight ratio, conditioned by an additional 20,000 euros invoice.
Like a pure cafe-racer, the M4 hands you its handlebars embellished with tangy buttons. To look pretty? Rather to select an injection map like in Superbike. The Magnetti Marelli control unit also manages traction control while your gaze must acclimate to a host of info from the MotoGP-like dashboard. A large series of special parts will allow you to customize this demonic machine on demand.
The main concern of the M4, besides the fact that the passenger is excluded, is the price. Like any achievement of high pedigree, the machine comes at a high price. Count 40,000 euros for the basic version and 60,000 for the One Shot – Price excluding tax.
