V2 delivers 122 PS and 178 Nm from 1,769 cm³

The new Indian PowerPlus V2 is the Americans’ most potent twin cylinder. It will celebrate its first in the new Challenger.

I.ndian brings a new V2 engine. The 1,769 cm³ two-cylinder is based on liquid cooling and, with the name PowerPlus, is based on Indian models that were built between 1916 and 1924.

122 HP peak power

Technically, the new PowerPlus-V2 adapts many features of the smaller Scout engine, including an overhead camshaft with four valves per cylinder. There is also a six-speed gearbox with real overdrive, a servo clutch, three driving modes, hydraulic valve clearance compensation and hydraulically operated timing chain tensioners, dry sump lubrication and 52 mm throttle valves.

The 108 cubicinch V2, compressed to 11: 1, should achieve its maximum output of 122 hp at 5,500 rpm, the maximum torque of 178 Nm should be available at 3,800 rpm. The maximum speed for the 60-degree V2 is specified as 6,500 rpm.

The new PowerPlus two-cylinder will make its first appearance in the new Indian Challenger, which will be used as an excavator with a frame-mounted half-shell cladding.
