Several "stolen" photos of an apparently final version of the next Can-Am Spyder model suggest that the original Canadian three-wheeler is undergoing a profound stylistic and technical change. This 2015 vintage would notably receive the new 3-cylinder in-line Rotax until now reserved for the luxurious RT version (read our).

New chassis, redesigned lines and revised ergonomics

If this Spyder 2015 does not stand out fundamentally on the bottom (it is still a tripod with two non-tilting wheels at the front), the bottom is changing in depth. In addition to its completely redesigned body which now lets you glimpse its mechanical innards, this funny Canadian machine notably unveils a revised tubular-type chassis and bottom-swing..

As on the current Spyder, the transmission will be a choice of manual or semi-automatic type (up and down via a trigger on the handlebars, without disengaging), as these visuals confirm, which the test models sometimes appear with a clutch lever, sometimes without.

But it is above all in terms of style that this new Can-Am 3-wheeler stands out. The front – which still includes a trunk – is more muscular, with a huge grille topped with rectangular headlights. New side scoops with lenticular lights appear. The set is reminiscent of the stocky front end of the latest generation of American car Chevrolet Corvette.

Ergonomics have significantly improved on this potential replacement for the Spyder RS, the current sporty version of the range, since the feet appear more advanced here and heels pointed downwards, while the handlebars are now curved towards the bust. This results in a position apparently less worn on the front, almost custom.

In view of the progress of these prototypes and the presence of all "legal fittings" (headlights, indicators, plate), it seems logical to think that the brand belonging to the Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) group should not delay in officially unveiling this new generation of Spyder. Maybe at the Cologne Motorcycle Show (Intermot), scheduled for the end of the month? Stay connected !
