New products: Honda Gold Wing, Crossrunner and CBR 300 R

Novelties: model presentation

Well-kept models

The world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer relies on proven concepts. The Gold Wing was slightly retouched for the 40th anniversary, the CBR 300 R will also be coming to Germany in the future, and the Crossrunner will get more power and longer suspension travel.

S.o Honda does not quite trust the positive development of the motorcycle market in Germany. In addition, Italy and Spain are sending only weak signals of economic recovery. So Honda is holding back with expensive new developments of European-inspired models.

Crossrunner would also be refreshed.

The unique V4 engine with VTEC, which only works with two out of four valves per cylinder up to around 6800 rpm, was taken over from the new VFR; it develops 106 hp at 10,250 rpm. The aluminum frame with a single swing arm also comes from the VFR. However, the new Crossrunner got even longer suspension travel. With 180 millimeters at the front and 173 at the rear, it should offer more comfort than its predecessor.

Less bulky and angular

On the photo you can see that the LED headlight of the VFR can also shine in the Crossrunner; this is accompanied by a redesign of the entire "body". The front panel is kept tighter, the lines are more flowing. This makes the machine appear less bulky and angular. At the time of going to press it was not yet known whether this fairing would also improve driving stability in such a way that the speed limit can be lifted to 200 km / h. However, the longer spring travel speaks against it.

It almost goes without saying that the traction control HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control), the ABS and the heated grips of the VFR are taken over. As with the VFR, the indicators are also automatically reset. The price advantage of 1200 euros that the "old" Crossrunner enjoyed compared to the new VFR should be a thing of the past with so much similarity. The Crossrunner may even be more expensive than the VFR, as was the case in 2013.

40th anniversary

Honda

Some details point to the 40th anniversary.

In 1975 the first Gold Wing came on the market. On this occasion, Honda is equipping the current GL 1800 with some anniversary emblems on the fairing, the topcase, the ignition key and in the cockpit and is also offering it in a new two-tone paint scheme.

The excavator variant F6B benefits more from the 40th anniversary; it receives the "reversing function" and the cruise control, which were previously reserved for the fully clad Gold Wing. F6B drivers still have to live with the fact that their motorcycle’s stereo system only has four speakers instead of six.

Presumably, the CBR 300 R will grin in the face of such luxury problems. The pretty little sportswoman emerged from the 250 by installing a crankshaft with eight millimeters more stroke. Almost 31 HP and 27 Nm will move the machine, which weighs only 164 kg, quickly. Also in Germany from next season.

A two-tone paint scheme for the 2015 season. She took over the exhaust system from the F6B; The transfer of equipment usually goes in the other direction.
