Suzuki V-Strom 650 and 1000 2017: initial information
Suzuki took advantage of the Intermot show to present its new 2017 V-Strom 650 and 1000 (standard and XT). A family of road trails more closely knit since the small takes in 2017 the features and equipment of the large. Discovery.
Page 1: 2017 V-Strom 650, it looks great
Sold since 2004 to more than 170,000 copies worldwide, the V-Strom 650 undergoes profound changes in 2017. Like all motorcycle production, the V-twin first had to comply with the Euro4 standard but would have lost none of its pep, quite the contrary.
The pistons, camshafts and injections have been revised, and the double ignition of the 1000 has been adopted, so that the performance of the twin cylinder is slightly higher (71 hp and 62 Nm). We also note that the pot is lowered: the "six-and-a-half" loses a little presence, but its optional cases are refocused…
Tank and frame covers slim down the bike’s size by 5mm, new 10-spoke rims eliminate 100g of unsprung weight, and the seat is 2mm thicker. These changes may seem small, of course, but Suzuki knows that market shares are in the details. !
Clever, the Hamamatsu Yellows grafted the instrumentation of the V-Strom 1000 onto the 650. Likewise, they gave the small V-Strom the allure and lights – front and rear – of the big one, then have blurred the tracks by eliminating any mention of displacement! By the way, the "six-and-a-half" chipe to the "thousand" its adjustable and deactivatable traction control.
Also in the 2017 catalog, the XT version (+ 3kg) is fitted with spoked rims, gold for the yellow color but black for the white and black versions. Like the V-Strom 650, it incorporates a 12 V socket as standard but also receives hand guards and an engine guard … in plastic, lighter, cheaper but also less sturdy than aluminum !
