Vespa Primavera 125i.e. 3V in the driving report
No missile, but enough for city traffic
Primavera, spring in English, is the name of the successor to the successful Vespa LX presented at Eicma 2013. We are the Vespa Primavera 125i.e. 3V driven.
Although the subject of time travel provides fodder for countless films and, according to Einstein’s theory of relativity, such undertakings are theoretically possible, the practical breakthrough is still pending. However, since earlier, according to the transfiguration, many things seem to have been better than today, the tactics of the producers to make their products of today fit for the market of tomorrow with the names of yesterday are working. This works with countless automobiles (Mini, New Beetle, Mustang etc.), so why should it with the new little one Vespa Primavera 125i.e. 3V does not work?

Except for the drive, no stone was left unturned
Primavera was also the name of the Vespa presented in 1968, at that time fully up to date and still one of the best-selling models from Pontedera. But as backward as the name is, the (or they ?, Because Vespas are female) spring 2014 is so future-oriented. Even if, first of all, ABS is not yet available. At first glance and all further looks, the Primavera is immediately recognizable as a Vespa, although compared to its predecessor, apart from the drive, no stone was left unturned. The chic cockpit in the style of the 50s offers a look back into the past. The handlebar switches can all be operated horizontally, as was the case with the first Primavera in 1968.
The air-cooled three-valve drive, on the other hand, is state-of-the-art. It was already presented in 2012 in the Vespa LX and is designed for minimal internal friction and low fuel consumption. It should go 100 km with just over two liters. A value that certainly needs to be checked. He takes up his work with the typical, bright sounding starter noise and continues to pursue it in a cultivated and relaxed manner. A newly designed suspension successfully keeps vibrations away from the body. In contrast to its predecessor, the three-valve engine is a long-stroke engine and achieves the identical output of 10.7 hp a few hundred revolutions earlier, and its torque is also higher: 10.4 instead of 9.6 Nm, which is present at 6000 instead of 6500 rounds. Nevertheless, the Vespa Primavera 125i.e., which weighs around 125 kilograms, is not exactly underweight. 3V no rocket even today. But it’s enough for city traffic.
Side stands or luggage racks cost extra
Manufacturer
Lifted here, rejuvenated there, streamlined there: the Primavera remains a design icon.
Compared to the Vespa LX, the seat height on the Vespa Primavera 125i.e. 3V by five centimeters and is now 78. This and the footboard, which is slightly narrower in the rear, help to make it easier for smaller drivers to deal with the beautiful. The leg shield, however, became a little wider. Last but not least, the battery moved from the helmet compartment, which can still be removed, into the center tunnel, which, in addition to increasing its volume, also means a lower center of gravity. Although it now also has an eleven-inch wheel at the rear (LX: ten inches), it is more bustling than stable. The newly designed, drawn short swing arm doesn’t change that. It should respond better than the old one and be more stable. The first driving impression did not disprove this statement.
In general: Despite all the changes, the Vespa Primavera 125i.e. 3V remained completely the same in essence. And that’s good. It would have been better, however, if it had been given decent standard equipment along with it. Despite the self-confident price of 4050 euros, things like side stands or luggage racks actually have to be paid for extra. After all, on time travel you need a lot of luggage.
