Mini sports car, maximum pleasure ?

It is therefore not two, but three new motorcycles that the world’s leading manufacturer has developed from a new inline-twin 471 cc and an identical chassis (read our).

Like the other representatives of this "CB500" family, the CBR500 develops 47.6 hp (in accordance with the new A2 motorcycle license) and 43 Nm of torque. Reasonable performance in line with its vocation of motorcycles intended for beginners. Neophytes who will appreciate its sobriety: 3.7 l / 100 km ensures Honda, or an announced autonomy of around 420 km thanks to its 15.7-liter tank !

Designed on the same platform as the CB500F and CB500X, it comes with basic peripherals to contain costs: a sturdy tubular steel frame, a simple petal disc on the front and back (but with standard ABS), suspensions only adjustable in preload at the rear and rims – common to the three models – in 120 at the front and 160 at the rear.

Designated as the new mount of the European Junior Cup (read in particular), the CBR500R exhibits almost identical dimensions to the CB500F roadster: 2075 mm long, 790 mm saddle height, 1410 mm of wheelbase and 25.5 ° of hunting angle.

Only its weight is a little higher due to the presence of ABS and fairings inspired by the design of the CBR1000RR: 194 all full made against 190 for the roadster (192 with ABS).

Prices, colors and availability

The Honda CB500R will be available in "Pearl Himalayas" white, graphic black and "Seal" metallic silver (photo gallery below). It will be available from February 2013 at a price of 5900 euros.

Honda announces a "sporty" driving position defined to "satisfy users of all sizes". As on the CB500F and CB500X, it carries a HISS coded key, a trunk capable of accommodating a U and a digital dashboard comprising a speedometer, a segment tachometer, two daily totalizers, the time as well as fuel level and consumption.
