New motorcycle: the Tracer 700 on the road this summer !
Surprised last summer as a prototype, the semi-faired version of the MT-07 (best selling segment in France) is officially unveiled by Yamaha. This Tracer 700 is based on the 75 hp and 68 Nm twin of the roadster, renewed as it is in its functions, to assert its road claims..
Surprise last summer at, the semi-faired version of the (best selling segment in France) is officially unveiled by Yamaha. This Tracer 700 is based on the twin of 75 hp and 68 Nm of the roadster, renewed as is in its functions, to assert its road claims.
Identical engine but modified frame and trim
If the vertical twin of 699cc – whose crankshaft is set at 270 ° – is identical between the and the Tracer 700, the chassis receives significant modifications going in the direction of the road skills claimed by this novelty, little "sister" of the acclaimed MT-09 Tracer.
The tubular steel frame released by the MT-07 is notably grafted with an oscillating arm – in aluminum – extended by 50 mm (1450 mm in all), in order to ensure better stability and enhanced traction – including in duo with luggage.
The entry-level suspensions (non-adjustable telescopic fork) adopt for their part new settings, supposed to ensure "stability and responsiveness" to this Tracer 700.
Hopefully, special attention will have been paid to the 130 mm travel monoshock (adjustable preload), sometimes happily "heckled" by the big constraints on the MT-07 …
Braking remains similar to that of the MT-07: two 282 mm petal discs at the front pinched by 4-piston calipers, associated with a single 145 mm disc at the rear (1-piston caliper). An effective device, failing to be very biting in "arsouille" mode. ABS is naturally standard, as on all 2016 vintage motorcycles.
The announced weight of this novelty – which rekindles the torch left extinguished by the XJ6 Diversion – is 196 kg fully loaded. The weight gain compared to the MT-07 ABS (+14 kg) is explained by the grafting of semi-fairings on which appear small deflectors as well as a 12V socket in the right return. This angular cover also includes practical hand protectors – with integrated indicators – and a variable height screen, without tools.
In addition, comfort is improved thanks to the use of a new two-level saddle and a visually raised handlebar, and on which appears a reinforcement bar. The grab handles will also be a plus for the passenger. As a result of the extra thickness of the saddle, the height of the rider seat is reduced from 805 mm on the MT-07 to 845 mm on the Tracer 700.
Finally, last "detail" welcome in the optics of long journey: the tank capacity is increased from 14 to 17 liters. Thanks to the excellent fuel economy of the twin "CP2" (from 4.3 to 5.4 l / 100 km measured by MNC), the autonomy could oscillate between 320 and 390 km !
Weight and price content
As an option, the Tracer 700 can receive 20-liter soft saddlebags, a 39-liter top case or even a high screen (see all the photos in our gallery, below the video). It will be available during "summer 2016" provides Yamaha France, in red, black or blue. Its price is not known for the moment, but it is hoped to be contained under 8000 € (6699 € for the MT-07 ABS).
Note also that Yamaha applies a fairly strong platform sharing policy from the base of the MT-07, since it is already available in neo-retro and that one is in the boxes !
