News - New Honda Goldwing F6C - Used HONDA

A year after having developed the exhilarating F6B bagger by stripping down its cult Goldwing GL1800, Honda is backing it up with a more muscular version, the F6C. A new motorcycle which refers directly to the late Valkyrie produced on the basis of the GL1500 between 1996 and 2003.

A year after having developed the exhilarating by undressing its cult Goldwing GL1800, Honda puts the cover again with a more muscular version, the F6C. A new motorcycle which refers directly to the late Valkyrie produced on the basis of the GL1500 between 1996 and 2003.

Street muscle cruiser

Described as a "Street muscle cruiser", the F6C is one of the "surprise" novelties unveiled by Honda at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. Technically close to the (itself designed on the basis of the Goldwing GL1800, does it follow in the background?), This squat motorcycle is essentially distinguished from the bagger by its rear part amputated from the two suitcases and its lightened and redesigned front face. around a single oblong optic.

For Honda, it would not be "just a motorcycle to be seen, but also a motorcycle to be understood" … Not easy to navigate between this F6C, the F6B, the "normal" Goldwing and the new Pan European motor unveiled by the Japanese giant in Milan !

In terms of the engine, the F6C cruiser is powered by the sensational 1832 cc flat six-cylinder engine which develops 118.3 hp at 5500 rpm and 167 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm everywhere except in France. This exceptional engine is inserted in the rigorous double beam aluminum frame of the Goldwing GL1800. Or the same approach followed by Honda last year with the F6B (read our).

However, some small technical differences appear on reading the technical sheets: the F6C cruiser would be 44 kg lighter than the F6B bagger (341 kg all full compared to 385), a significant difference which can be explained by the amputation of the suitcases, the trim and windshield as well as the use of a new aluminum rear buckle.

This redesigned rear part allows Honda to lower the seat height of its "muscle cruiser": the seat of the F6C peaks at 734 mm, or 6 mm less than the Goldwing GL1800. Surprisingly, this value is however 9 mm higher than on the F6B (725 mm).

The 45 mm fork and the adjustable preload mono-shock absorber are identical to those of the F6B, but their calibration would have been adapted to the lower weight of the cruiser as well as to its "more urban" vocation, assures Honda. Combined braking and ABS are also retained.

The winged blazon also announces having revised "very precisely" the distribution of the masses (49.9% on the front and 50.1% on the rear) and softened the rigidity of the engine mounts in order to promote "the return of sensations towards the pilot".

Finally, as on the F6B, the silencers are different from those of the Goldwing: the left exhaust is slightly larger than the right (3.8 liters against 3.3) in order to obtain a sound with two faces: "rumble throaty at low speed and the whistling of a turbine at high speed ", explains Honda before specifying that" according to the engineers themselves, the result is rather satisfactory " !

The Honda GL1800 F6C will be available in two colors, metallic burgundy red or graphite black, at an unknown price but which MNC estimates between 21,000 and 22,000 euros. It will be available in concession in May and can be equipped with the following accessories and options: diode fog lights, a high screen, a chrome side stand, a side stand trim, a luggage rack, leather side bags or more deflectors.
