Presented in preview to dealerships at the end of October in London – on the sidelines of the launch of the XC and XE soon to be tested on site – the Speed Twin is of-fi-ciel-le-ment unveiled to the world press! Site was present, "naturally".

At the heart of this new English beats the twin-cylinder 1200 cc "High Performance" inaugurated on the Thruxton … and lightened by 2.5 kg, in particular thanks to a new magnesium camshaft housing, a modified clutch and casings optimized engine !
The maximum values are unchanged (see technical sheet) but the managers ensure that the inertia of the motor is further reduced. The acceleration and recovery will be all the stronger as the Speed Twin has a 7.5 kg chassis that is lighter than the Thruxton. There will be sport, but also comfort !
The new roadster effectively offers a more relaxed driving position than that of the Cafe Racer. Like on the Street Twin! The saddle placed 807 mm from the ground should allow the majority of motorcyclists to feel comfortable on the handlebars – higher and wider – of this new Speed Twin.
A Street Twin on steroids
So that its owners also feel proud, the Hinckley firm has not skimped on the style and the finish: the general line of the bike is successful, the instrumentation and the LED headlight are round and classy, the guard -Alu mud are as mini as they are mimis, the brake light and the indicators are crisp. In short, the all-metal "plastic" of the Triumph is remarkable.
The "retro" touches are just right: bellows fork and axially mounted calipers, "Monza" type fuel cap, double rear shock absorber, "megaphone" exhaust outlet with an English and sporty accent, flat padded seat with the rear … The only false note concerns the trim – in brushed aluminum, please – of the injection: where the false carbs have gone ?
On the "neo" side, the Speed Twin has three driving modes, the mandatory ABS and reassuring traction control, a pair of 17-inch wheels shod with excellent Pirelli Rosso Corsa III, a USB under saddle and bar end mirrors.
The Speed Twin will land in French dealerships in February 2019. The price is not yet definitively fixed, but the officials of Triumph France questioned by MNC place it at around "13,200 euros, within 300 euros" … According to the color? Plain black or red / black and silver / gray bitons.
