New in 2016: Bimota Tesi 3D RaceCafe and Impeto
The small – but very inspired – Italian manufacturer Bimota responds as usual to "his" motorcycle show in Milan with two interesting novelties: the Cafe racer Tesi 3D RaceCafe and the Impeto motor roadster from Diavel, with optional compressor. !

Bimota Tesi 3D RaceCafe: incredible Cafra !
Designed on the basis of the Tesi 3D Naked, the RaceCafe is – as its name suggests – a cafe racer version of the roadster, the main feature of which is its unconventional front axle. The result inevitably attracts attention, especially as the finish is faithful to the habits of the craftsman of Rimini: sumptuous !
Created in 1983 by Bimota, the "Dive Controlled System" front axle concept installed on the various Tesi evolutions (the first, the 1D sports car, dates back to 1990), is based on a double oscillating arm system, here made of carbon fibers.
In the absence of a steering column, it is thanks to a complex linkage system connecting the handlebars to the hub that the front wheel is steered..
Damping is entrusted to a superb Ohlins handset, installed on the left. The objective is similar to that pursued by all unconventional front axles: to separate the steering and damping functions for better feedback on curves..
This also results in a reduction in the effects of resistance to setting on the angle when the 4-piston radial calipers – installed "upside down" due to the bulk of the steering system – are kept when entering a turn..
As on the other Tesi 3D, this front axle is connected to a minimalist chassis in the form of a perforated aluminum plate, which surrounds the engine to join the rear swingarm. The whole forming an Omega structure, like the late Yamaha GTS. The propellant, in fact, is a 90 ° twin cylinder from Ducati, a manufacturer with which Bimota has had close ties since its creation in the mid-1970s..
Unlike the current Tesi 3D powered by the 1078cc L-twin, the Tesi 3D RaceCafe uses the 803cc air-cooled Desmodue. Thanks to several eccentrics placed on the suspensions, the height of the motorcycle can vary by 23 mm, "to the nearest millimeter" assures Bimota. This possibility intervenes in fact on the height of the very elegant brown leather saddle..
Faithful to the search for lightness dear to, one of the founders of Bimota, this Tesi 3D RaceCafe claims only 162 kg dry, despite the additional weight inevitably brought by its front axle.
The Italian firm does not communicate a price for this new motorcycle, but it will undoubtedly be high as the current Tesi 3D exceed € 30,000…
Bimota Impeto: Diavel engine roadster … with optional compressor !
Furiously attractive with its round LED optics and raised rear shell, the Impeto roadster uses, as usual at Bimota, the most beautiful components: very high-end Ohlins suspensions, Oz "light" alloy rims, radial Brembo radial calipers , steel trellis frame connected to homemade aluminum plates…
As an option, a carbon frame and swingarm are even offered! But it is the heart of the "beast" which calls out the most, since it is neither more nor less of the twin cylinder of 1198 cc of the .
With 162 hp and 130.5 Nm of torque, this powerful and explosive engine is controlled by a ride-by-wire electronic accelerator and receives several driving modes.
At this stage, we say to ourselves that with such a mill and its very sporty dimensions (1430 mm of wheelbase, 25 ° of caster angle and only 177 kg dry), this Bimota Impeto should not be sad to drive !
But we must believe that this was still not enough for the craftsman of Rimini, who offers an optional supercharging kit offering between "15 and 20%" of additional power and torque! The traction control installed as standard may be an essential ally to tame all this cavalry…
Already seen in 2013 as a prototype – very advanced – on the Bimota DB11 VLX, this supercharging takes the form of a compressor installed between the two cylinders, in order to contain the bulk and not – too – disturb the general balance of the motorcycle. Bimota does not reveal the price of its Impeto, but specifies that the compressor kit can be installed on all its motorcycles powered by a liquid-cooled twin-cylinder Ducati.
