Offseason testing - Marquez dominates the last day of testing 2019 in Jerez, disrupted by the rain -

The second and final day of MotoGP testing in Jerez (Spain) ended earlier than expected following the onset of rain shortly before noon. Drivers and teams are pulling back for the traditional winter break before the return to the track scheduled for February 2020 in Malaysia! Debriefing.

This final 2019 test session started 30 minutes late this morning, due to the cloudy and foggy sky over the Jerez circuit. The first drivers on the track – Rabat and Quartararo – rode on eggshells before the grip necessary to establish correct lap times allowed Marc Marquez to take the lead.

The Honda official – heavily fallen – went down in 1’37.820, 7 tenths off the lap in 1’37.131 set by Maverick Viñales. And the Yamaha rider – already the fastest in the tests in (Spain) – finally retains the advantage since the return of the rain around 11:50 literally "showered" all hope of improving !

Many riders "took advantage" of these wet conditions to work on their sensations in the wet, or even discover the reactions of a MotoGP in the rain for newcomers like Alex Marquez (17th on the official Honda, ahead of its former "owner" Dani Pedrosa!), Iker Lecuona (20th on the KTM Tech3) and Brad Binder (22nd on the official KTM).
