On the way on Werner’s home route “Mini” Cook

Nobody knows the small roads in southern Germany better than MOTORCYCLE legend Werner “Mini” Cook. Now he takes readers with him on his house routes. The first enthusiasts have already been able to experience the dreamy routes.

Heavens as heavy as lead, but roads at their best. Ways out of this world. You think you are driving through a foreign country, the small connections that Tourguide Mini and his group take between the Swabian Alb and the Vorarlberger Land seem so exotic. You might find these little streets on hiking maps, but you definitely won’t find them on normal maps. The navigation system doesn’t know them either. Not to mention the group of MOTORRAD readers who got together to tour southern Germany for two days with the secret street guru: Werner “Mini” Koch is a veteran of the MOTORRAD editorial team, builder of various ideal motorcycles, chassis pope, racing driver and scout of secret routes.

For thirty years he researched between the Alb and Austria, and opened up this network of tiny streets with small enduros and mountain bikes. Now he opens his treasure chest of tours and lets readers take part. If you want, you can book the trip with Mini Koch at favorable conditions through the MOTORRAD action team (information overleaf). Two days of touring at its finest, two days of exchange with the guide who knows all about motorcycle issues, two days of break from everyday life. Scratch curves in a sporty way, enjoy cruising through idyllic landscapes, relax and circle through villages where time has stood still for a long time. Experience views that were not thought possible in Germany, drive on forgotten paths that no one except Mini and a few farmers knows about. Take a boat into the mysterious Wimsener Hohle, visit the bizarre collection of oldies on the bus.

Touring at its best, rarely gravel and roads like lassos thrown across the country.

Bussen is called the holy mountain of Upper Swabia, the place of pilgrimage offers a view of the Alps when the weather is nice. On the mountain is Uttenweiler-Offingen, where Anton Kegel collects old things: from beer mugs to tractors, from wrenches to anvils, you can hardly believe your eyes. At least that’s what Michael and Frank from Munich say, two of twelve readers who have already completed the first tour with Mini. Michael, like everyone else a seasoned man, has only ridden a 125cc scooter his whole life, then got his driver’s license and was the first bike to take on a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure weighing almost six hundred pounds. Frank, a fan of old Vespas, has many motorbikes and rides his Dominator built in 1988 here.

MOTORCYCLE legend and tour guide Werner “Mini” Cook.

Reinhard and Andreas from East Westphalia love performance and drive the BMW S 1000 RR and Yamaha R1. Hans Gunther from Recklinghausen is lost with the 1000 Fazer, but Mini brings him back safely to the group, in which all types of motorcycle are represented except for choppers. In the evenings in the hearty Voralberger country inn, they don’t just talk about petrol, the Twelve Apostles also talk about their lives and find each other despite some differences in character. Most of them want to come back. Because it was a special experience and also because they want to enjoy these beautiful streets in the sun. It rained on the first tour, the sky was heavy as lead, but hearts were still light.
