New in 2019: Kawasaki (re) launches its Ninja ZX-6R 636
Yamaha will no longer be alone in the Supersport motorcycle segment in 2019: Kawasaki created a surprise by relaunching its iconic ZX-6R 636! Very close to the old model, the Ninja inherits some evolutions and mechanical adjustments to meet Euro4. Presentation, availability and prices.
We remember that in 2013, Kawasaki had invested heavily in the “supersport-road” segment with one, which returned to “its” displacement of 636 cc abandoned for five years. Akashi’s coat of arms hoped to seduce fans of muscular rides left on their hunger with a "simple", but who hesitated to pass on an overpowering .

Unfortunately, this yet relevant approach had not met with the expected success. On the one hand because of the collapse in sales of sports motorcycles in general, on the other hand because of the particularly steep price of the green bomb: at € 13,200 with ABS in 2013, the Zak ‘was barely cheaper than a Suzuki of the time…
The career of the ZX-6R 636 therefore ended with the arrival of Euro4 standards on January 1, 2017, despite all its qualities: good suspensions, decent ergonomics and a successful engine. In accordance with the law, the dealers then sold off the stocks until the following year..
The return of vengeance !
So, was that the end of the "636"? We might have thought … But no! Kawasaki revives its saga in 2019 with a slightly modified motorcycle and above all adapted to new standards! The first change is physical, with lines modeled on the current ones and .
The result, as often with Kawasaki, is sharper than elegant, especially in its green color with yellow stripes … Let’s say that this new opus does not break with the tradition of "tortured" aestheticism specific to the different vintages of ZX- 6R: remember in particular the 2002 model with its gaping air intake !

Under the fairings, the 4-cylinder is with the exception of the exhaust and the injection – revised for Euro4 – and the transmission ratio: the engine manufacturers have removed a tooth from the pinion (15 instead of 16) to boost the raises. Performance is similar: 136 hp and 70.8 Nm with forced air intake, but a single-acting shifter (upshifting) makes its appearance as standard alongside adjustable traction control and power modes..
The aluminum perimeter frame has not moved, nor the damping which remains entrusted to a very good 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork and a shock absorber from the same manufacturer, all fully adjustable. The weight on the other hand goes from 194 to 196 kg, mainly the fault of the Euro4 compatible exhaust.
